Senior Class Play The Seniors of 1955 presented as their class play a three-act comedy by Gregory Johnston called Curtain Going Up Irs Swearingen class adviser directed the play which was presented on Friday evening April 22nd in the school auditorium The play was a new one and told in comic terms the story of the production of a high school play from the choosing of the cast until the final curtain The play was mst unusual in its staging and the clever plot furnished many laughs for the capacity audience The cast of the play, in order of appearance was as follows Anthony Peterson 'Tony' the janitor Tom Oller llsie Hunter a typical Senior lancy Kirgis Janet Young a giggling hero worshipper Carol Savial Buck O'lara the athletic type woman shy Jack Schueler lancy Leveridge used to having her own way lancy Scheerer lilt Sanders a bundle of adolescent energ Don Hclleal VA l Jocko Guthrie the boy with 'the biggest line' Larry Howell A. Loretta Fuller popular with everyone Donna Dunlap Andrew lullbridxt I-orry's bewildered boyfriend George loss lies Irene Burgess coaching her first play Wanda Caldwell Sylvia Moore, another typical Senior laribelle Ohivington Joan White her inseparable friend lsrjgrie 1.1-ug lddie Burns ready for anything 1441. '!aT' lies Henrietta Rivers the Senior adviser Jane Iarcher H' 1 Kyle Roberts a professional actor out of work Bob Bulg- llr Levsridge la.noy's ambitious father lg1v1n gun, av Hrs Young Janet's moths Jann pink., AJ 1-sf O M Junior Senior Ban uet M F The theme of the Junior-Senior banquet this year was Q lvening in Paris' The menu decorations and entertainment beautifully and artistically carried out this theme A program was prepared by the Juniors and was enjoyed by everyone The banquet a semi formal affair was held on Saturday night lay 15th and was 4,1 again served at the school 've Senior Class Trip This year the Seniors decided that they would like to see the scenery of the country throuya which they passed so they left Tiffin by B 6 O train long before daylight on Thursday morning lay 19 1955 They arrived in lash ington late that afternoon in time for dinner That evening they enjoyed a two hour bus ride around Washington including a visit to the Washington Airport They stayed all night at the Congressional Hotel and spent the next day visit ing some of the most important buildings in Washington They also visited Arl lngton Iational Cemetery where they witnessed the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and enjoyed the trip through beautiful Mount Ver- non Then on to New York dining on the train, and arriving there after dark on Friday evening Their base of operations in New York was the Paramount Hotel Three full days were spent in sightseeing trips to television and radio stu dies shopping baseball games and picturetaking The Seniors left New York on Monday evening lay 23 and they arrived in Tiffin the next morning where they were greeted by friends and families They were all tired weary and broke but everyone agreed that the trip had been worth all that it had cost both in ef fort and in money Chaperones on the trip were lr and Hrs Henry Swearingen -diff Baccalaureate 81 Commencement Baccalaureate services were held in the school auditorium on Sunday even ing, lay 15 1955 The processional was played by Jean Lelbengood and vocal music was furnished by members of the music department The sermon was preach ed by the minister ef one of the local churches Comencement exercises took place on Thursday evening lay 26 1955 he traditional 'Pomp and Circumstance' was played as an instrumental processional lusic was furnished by members of the graduating class Ruth Wilhelm was class salutaterian and Wanda Caldwell was valedictorian The speaker for this occa sion was lr John I Brown Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio Compliments of SIIIICA OOUITY IABII BURIAU COOPIRATIVI ASSOCIATION Tiffin, Ohio 18 R 9 . .
