Backpacking, rock climbing, and cross country skiing are only three of the numerous activities offered by the Quest Program. The idea behind Quest is to let peo- ple get away from the bustle of col- lege life by putting them into the beauty of a rustic, wilderness setting. Little or no experience is needed. All that IS required is some ambition, patience, and a lot of endurance to climb that rock face, ski to the top of the ridge, or carry that backpack through our country ' s wilderness areas. Weekend trips involving two over- nights were introduced this year for backpacking and canoeing. Other programs by Quest are a canoe course and sailing course, both offered for credit, and the Up-Reach Program for in-coming Freshmen. A totally new program, the Summer Quest Semester, involving 12 weeks of school, 14 credits, and living out in the open is being offered this summer in hopes that it can be continued each year. v; V QUEST Twenty-Five

Japanese Awareness Week, March 18- 24, was held here at BSC in appreciation ot a grant received from the Toyota Corpora- tion. This grant was given to 18 non-profit organizations to establish a closer relation- ship between the U.S. and Japan. The program for Japanese Awareness Week was conducted by the Advisory Com- mittee to International Education. Various workshops were provided for student inter- est. Nanae Momiyama presented Japanese brush painting, Atsushi Moriyasu illustrated kite making, and Saeko Ichinohe performed a Kabuki dance. Other workshops included: flower arranging, a film festival, lectures by an International Business and Trade sem nar, plus a Japanese dinner organized by Mrs. Murphy in the Commons on Thursday. Greek Week, a series of competitive events between sororities and fraterni- ties took place at BSC during he week of April 29-May 6. The week was trig- gered off witfi Olympic Day wt ich tests the athletic ability of the Greeks. A Ham- burger Eating Contest, Chariot Race, Tug of War, Games Night and a Road Rally kept the spirits of the Greeks roll- ing The highlight of the events, Greek Sing brought Greek Week to an end. Instead of athletic abilities, the fraterni- ties and sororities demonstrated their musical talents to a largeaudience in Haas Auditorium. The results of the competitions put Phi lota Chi in first place over the sorori- ties with Sigma Sigma Sigma in second and Chi Sigma Rho tied with Lambda Alpha Mu for third. Delta Pi reigned as the champions of Greek Week for the fraternities with Tau Kappa Epsilon sec- ond and Sigma lota Omega third. The high honor of Greek Man and Woman was given to Joe Bell of Delta Pi and Susan Grady of Delta Epsilon Beta, respectively. Twenty-Six
