In its one hundred twenty-five years of growth. Bloomsburg State College has undergone many changes. The Class of 1964 has been witness to much of this progress. This year ' s graduating class came to Bloomsburg in its first year as a State College. They leave Bloombsurg in its first year as a Liberal Arts College. But much more has changed at Bloomsburg than just the curricular offerings. To those of us who leave Bloomsburg this year, there has been one ever-present reminder of the dynamic spirit which has characterized our college since its be- ginnings as an Academy in 1839. This reminder is the sights and sounds of con- struction. The college we leave seems quite different from the college which greeted us four short years ago. From the first ue have become intimately acquainted with earth movers, steel girders, and cement mixers. They have become as much a part of our college lives as the traditional studies, dances, and dates. It is for this reason that we. the staff of the 1964 OBITER, have chosen construction as our theme for our ever-expanding college. In reality, this construction theme is symbolic of the purpose of Bloomsburg. It is the aim of our college to build teachers who will be able to instill in the minds of their students the ideals upon which the institution was built and which have been its guiding spirit for the last century and a quarter. It is our hope that the memories our class will carry away from Bloomsburg State College will be those of an ever-growing Alma Mater. To carry out this theme of construction, we have reproduced on our divider pages pen and ink sketches done by Elizabeth Owens, head of the Art Department at G.A.R. Memorial High School. W ilkes-Barre. Pa. Many of our students will recognize the campus views which Miss Owens has captured in her sketches. The Staff
