SENIOR CLASS HISTORY September, IQ44. saw Hloomsburg High School open its friendly doors to one of the most active classes ever to matriculate at Bloomsburg. This fall our foot- ball team was coached by Mr. Ben Pollock. Our class was well represented on the Varsity football team that won five games, lost three, and tied one. Our tradi- tional Thanksgiving Day game was played at Danville in the snow, but Blooms- burg came out on top with a 13-O score. just before the last football game Mr. Pollock entered the Navy and Mr. Golder took his place. Our jayvee basketball tcam captured the Susquehanna League title for our high school in twelve wins. and three losses. We sold candy at the basketball games to earn money for our class. The Varsity basketball team won the Susquehanna League Championship for the fifth time in eight years. Some of us participated in the All School Play. The Family Portrait, the Band Concert, and the Gym Demonstration. Our class advisors who were to guide us throughout our three years were Mr. Schell and Miss Rowman. XVe elected the following officers: Beverly Cole, presidentg Marion George, vice-presidentg 'loan Shaffer, secretary, and Gloria Marks, his- torian. Miss Spudis took over the home making class and Mr. Freed the music department and the band. Doyle Edgar and Harry Gray left our class to enlist in the United States Navy. Our junior year will especially be remembered because a few weeks before it opened Vtforld War ll came to an end. VVith the opening of school, there were many changes in the faculty. Mr. Hidlay took over the boys' physical education classes and Mrs. Bader instructed the girls, Miss NVhitenight having left to get married.
