The Senior Class of 1946, the first peacetime class to be graduated after X'Vorld VVar II, will always look to this book to recall the happy memories of high school days. Each picture will bring back to memory the serious and the humorous side of our high school activ- ities. It will also remind us of the pleasant incidents that we wish to remember about our Alma Mater. Editor DEDICATIO This year, we, the senior class, respect- fully dedicate our Memorabilia to Nor- man A. Yeany who retired from teaching in l945, his retirement ending the long and successful career of a lovable man whom everyone admired and held in high esteem. Mr. Yeany began his education in a small country school, but his next step was Gettysburg College where he re- ceived his Bachelor's Degree. He con- tinued his work for his Master's Degree at Chicago University. From there he attended Beckley, Elizabethtown College and New York University. Mr. Yeany holds one of the three old certificates in the county, that is, a certifi- cate on which is listed all the subjects he took in college. He taught in Shenondale, Kirkwood, Steelton, and for sixteen years in Blooms- burg. This book is a small payment of our gratitude to Norman A. Yeany, our ad- viser and friend. We will never forget him. Table 0 f C0ntem'5.'--- The Admhzzlvtmtzbn Claire! Adz'vz?z'ef and Atlvletzkzf Fm tufcff Pafrom DMI TRATIO X A n I S S5 QNQQQQW cmglkwbyf' f Q- 6 ME? Wm. MEMORIES - SWEET MEMORIES As the graduating class of 1946. we entered our sophomore year of high school work anxious and curious to know what the next three years would bring. Our advisers throughout these next'three years were Mr. Yeany and Miss White- night. They both lived up to the title of adviser and helped us in every way. For our officers in the sophomore year, we elected: Frank Valeskie, presidentg james Boughter, vice-presidentg Charles W. Hagemeyer, Jr., secretaryg and james Eve- land, historian. The members of this class were very active in all the extra-curric- ular activities, such as athletics, drama, and journalism. Our junior year was our most active year. The following officers were elected: jack Severn, presidentg James Struthers, vice-presidentg Harold Moyer. secretaryg Clifton Franks, historian. Mr. Walter H. Freed took Mr. T. Holland Paist's place on the faculty, teaching music, leading the Band and the Girls' Chorus. Mrs. Martha Y. Rider taught eighth grade English when Mr. Golder took over physical education. Mr. Pollock had taught gym before leaving for the Navy. The junior-Senior Prom was the crowning achievement of junior year and, even though it took a great abundance of work, it was a very lovely event. As ever, our class was well represented in all extra-curricular activities. Our senior year will especially' be remembered because a few weeks before it opened, World VVar ll came to an end. With the opening of school, there were many changes in the faculty. Mr. Hidlay took over the boys' physical education classes and Mrs. Bader instructed the girls. Mr. Eunson became industrial arts teacher and Mr. Lewis taught vocational agriculture. Mr. Reed and Miss Eddin- ger filled the vacancies in the commercial department and Mr. E. McCormick di- rected the Band. The Orangeville High School was discontinued and the pupils were sent to Bloomsburg. We welcomed this addition to our class and found many new friends. Shortly after school opened, we elected the class officers: president. jack Severng vice-president, james Gillespieg secretary, Ruth Bach- ingerg and historian, Milan Drake. Many of the seniors took part in the class play Janie'l which was a great success. As the year progressed, many boys who had left school to serve in the armed forces returned to continue their education. Two of our teachers left during the year. Mr. Schell was forced to leave be- cause of his health and was replaced by Mr. Kistler. Mr. Letterman gave up the school-teaching profession and Mr. Hidlay took his place. Mr. McCloskey re- placed Mr. Hidlay as physical education teacher. Graduation day arrived quickly. As we left our heritage with the junior class, we went out conhdent that we could face any problems the world might offer us. ANN PAPANIA BEVERLY SCHUG GERTRUDE WATKINS APPRECIATION In departing, the Senior Class of 1946 dedicates this page to all who aided us in our high school trials and tribulations. In particular do we owe a debt of gratitude to our teachers who have equipped us with the tools of knowl- edge in order that we may go out into the world with courage and character to find a place for ourselves. To our advisers and to our administrators we give thanks 'for their guidance in all the activities of the class. To our parents we are grateful for their patience and many sacrifices in order that we might complete our education. Our progressive school board deserves a vote of thanks for the contributions made to our alma mater. Last, but not least, we thank the advertisers who contributed so generously, thus helping us to put out this yearbook. To all of you we give our many heartfelt thanks. ,BLoo1vy5bur-tj 'School- ILMH Wfrek CL H f f PF 323 5 ' oh'!8lu.m.s.,g1l,nSal...4A,,,, Ma- 1,7 ,q1-w,'.Fpm.f-L,nLw.y Z aff!51..f-.....,,,1mnS.l...sfum mg- -ni, K,,u,,,,,,,, hom, M M ,A Q L Q gg FW E E' TE aa 'mn 1 VME Yo? 5-.ff and-JI vsnver 1 eh will Y'UFLdap4Wh'lN7' Yon' ALL Hgll 'mu Har we '7'5 T0 Jaan 5,rrJu4lu3r,Twv1.Ulnmlruslllkh, nl-L lfflfl-.lm w fFgi.Qgg EHFWYEF lg:H Lii 5531131 IAQ fee our ul- ns wav-:Hd oh- us, FnulfMay f-MYQV-e'R FLY: Qdeff HFPHIHL 191 TJ i H 3 . 5443411 amwari, 61.1, df- M47 05, E201 How To lo or gig: 'WETEV FHFFQEH Ei 9 uw- 1 1 f Hfwp, f'vL, xl? iii?
