14 16 a A Dave Willebey portrays Abe Lincoln in the Homecom- ing parade. Happiness was certainly among the many emotions felt by Loretta Purcell as she was crowned Queen at the 1957 Homecoming Game. The Homecoming Queen knows she has been paid a tribute by the entire school, and her crowning is a moment to remember. Homecoming gave a lift to everyonehs spirits, and the entire student body participated in the Homecoming parade. Many of them en- thusiastically made costumes and carried signs depicting ways to defeat the enemy at the game that evening. Members of the Booster,s Club thoroughly enjoyed themselves urging on the Panthers at the basketball games this year. Under Mr. Hookefs supervision, they made the games more colorful With their bright costumes and cheers. A sense of accomplishment comes to those Who are interested in dramatics. The cast of this yearts three-act play, I Remember Mama, gave a great deal of time and energy to its production, but work was made worthwhile by the thrill they felt on stage in front of the foot- lights and audience. This dream has been real- ized by five girls and two boys in 1957-58. The first royal couple chosen were Carolyn Sullivan and Joe Horstman as Junior-Senior Pypm queen and king. Loretta Purcell, senior, was chosen an- nual Homecoming queen. Her escort was Don Baker, senior. Selected as GOTHIC queen was Sandra Hudson, senior. She, Was es- corted by senior, Bill Bissey. Jane Harrell, senior, escorted by Don Baker, was elected Basketball queen. Suzanne Bruce, eighth grade, and Larry Canada, junior, were crowned queen and king of the Winter Carn- ival.
