Student Council To promote harmonious relationships through- out the entire school, to maintain co-operation hetween teachers and students, to act as host to visitors, and to maintain a satisfactory school spirit are some of the objectives of the Student Council. The Student Council is an organization which provides a forum for student expression through- out the entire school. Two students are elected from each of the home rooms to act as repre- sentatives to the council. From this group the ofiicers plus an elected student from each grade level make up what is called the Executive Com- mittee oi the council. This committee acts as a reviewing hoard and considers important issues which are to he presented to the council. Besides helping with community and national funds such as Community Chest, Tuberculosis Drive, and the Bed Cross Drive, the Student Council super- vises the election of the yell leaders, provides hall monitors for noon period supervision, spon- sors many of the after-game dances, provides student representation for facility committees, STUDEN lfuff' our Larry lAN'lil'lllMl', til:-nda Ilruner. Blue Triangle 'LThe Y-Teen Chooses Her Lifeis XVork was the Blue Triangle theme for this year. The or- ganization, consisting of junior and senior girls, is a branch of the Young XVomenis Christian Association, and also a continuation of the Y-Teens and Silver Triangle. The purpose of Blue Triangle is to promote service, friendship, and religious interests. An initiation ceremony gave the year an im- pressive beginning. Guest speakers were heard at two meetings this year. One speaker talked on church Work and one on the Armed Forces. Other programs were an educational movie on nursing, a lively panel discussion on stage, radio, and television, a skit given about ofilice work, and a very profitable program showing work in the home. An installation ceremony was held for the new officers during the April meeting. The Blue Triangle Chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Sarah F ranklin, gave a Christmas pro- gram, and also presented a harmonious Easter program. Each year a scholarship is awarded to a senior member of Blue Triangle, who has shown much interest and who has Worked very hard on the clubls activities. The candy table situated in the front hall after school provided the money for the scholarship which pays thc studentis fees for one semester at Indiana University. At the last meeting of the year a service plaque is always awarded to an outstanding senior member of Blue Triangle by the student who received the plaque the preceding year. The requirements for this plaque are: cooperation, dependability, atti- tude, service given to the club, and practice of the goals. Mrs. Sarah Franklin sponsors the club.
