The student governing body of B.H.S. is the student council, which is composed of two representatives from each home room. These students carry the ideas of their home rooms to the council where they are discussed and voted upon. The year's activities of the council included installing the trophy cases in the main building and in the gym- nasium, sponsoring many of the after-game dances, supervising the election of cheerleaders, helping in the school clean-up campaign, and providing student hall monitors at noon periods. Also, they backed many local, state, and national drives, had student representation on faculty committees, backed the Win- ter Carnival, and promoted the annual all-school dance in the spring. The 1955 executive committee consisted of Don Rush, Larry Allen, Sharon Bruce, Judy Branam, Bill Jenkin. john Isom, Tony McMillan, Feltus Leinen- weber, Bill Bissey, Bill Stuckey, and Robert Norman. Mr. Edward Cuddy is the Student Council sponsor. STUDENT COUNCIL EXECUTIVE BOARD Row l-Larry Allen, juzly Branam. Don Rufln. Sharon Bruce, Bill jenkiu. Row 2-Bill Starkey, john Irom. These familiar words rang out in room 414 as the Gothic was in the process of being assembled. Work on the 1955 Gothic began long before the opening of school. Meetings were held in the summer to help plan for the Gothic. Also at these meetings, the colors for the 1955 Gothic were selected and a budget was set up. The taking of numerous pictures which make up the Gothic began with the opening of school. Also, advertisements were secured and a very successful subscription campaign was launched during the first semester. Later began the task of writing the copy. The second se- mester began with much hard work, and by April, the 1955 Gothic was well on its way to the press. On hand to help the student staff members with any problems that might arise were Mr. Roger Ingle and Mr. Charles Bundy, the advisers. Students who did outstanding work were rewarded by being elected members of Quill and Scroll, a journalism honorary society.
