Last fall his team elected him captain by an overwhelming majority. Little Will Esarey-As a sophomore proved his right to a place on the varsity line-up. This year Bill again rose to heights through his abilities as a tackle. Zane Cannon-Flashy back proved that his track could be used in football by his many long and thrilling runs. Jess Inman-A crashing fullback, was a consistent ground-gainer through his Senior year. Although he was not on the varsity, he could always be called upon and would deliver the needed yardage. Lover Dean-Although Bob is a newcomer he has made a name for himself in B.H.S. football history. His long punts and thrilling runs and his bullet passes were a valuable aid to the success of the Panthers in the Colum- bus game. Melvin Atwood-Although Melvin did not start in the line-up, his service was very valuable as a reserve. The squad was always helped by his fighting spirit. Brother Freeman-Carl also had the hard task of playing in the back- field as well as being co-captain of the team. His hard charging and blocking proved effective in gaining many goals for the Panthers. Jim Wagoner-After Jim was transferred from the backfield to the guard position in the line, he proved to be a great asset. His place-kicking drove the opposition from our goal many times during the season. f Q Bob Cook-Being co-captain, together with playing in the backfield, was the difficult job which Bob had to perform. He succeeded and was well- known for his hard blocking and tackling. These traits and his all-around ability made his last year for B.H.S. a huge success. Irving Berlin Neal-Is known not only for his crooning and jitterbug- ging, but also as a tackle on the football team. He used his weight and head for the betterment of the whole team. The team will miss his support and singing in the line next year, since Irvin is a Senior. Turk Roberts-Keith, one of the few returning lettermen, was a very capable man at center position. Keith was chosen by his teammates to re- ceive the most valuable player's award which is presented each year by the B Men's Dads' Association. Bob Richardson-Although he had a bad knee, Bob started the season at left tackle. He had a great part in helping to keep the Panthers' stone- wall line firm. Johnny Wilson-The fact that he was small in stature was no dis- advantage to Johnny's football ability. His ability as quarterback and his bullet passes were a valuable aid to the success of the Panthers. Robert Taylor-One of the tallest boys on the squad, showed the crowds on many occasions that he could outsmart the opposition and score for his team. Hank Robbins-Playing guard on the varsity met with little opposition in establishing himself as one of the best line-men in the conference. Pea Pea Purcell-A newcomer to the Bloomington lineup, showed his defensive ability in game after game. As tackle he matched his wits with many veterans, but always won out. Kenneth Galyan-In one of the first games was seriously injured. His long, speedy runs were missed, but soon he was back in the Bloomington lineup before the season was over.
