We are fortunate to have the leadership of a man so well qualified in the field of education. This year Mr. Tirey was elected president of the Indiana State Teachers' Association. This selection from 18,000 school teachers to the highest honor the association bestows is a distinction in which both the city and the high school take great pride. if elf if lk elf ln the three years that Mr. Binford has been principal of Bloomington High School he has endeared himself to the school by his readiness to serve everybody. the interest he gives to each individual student, and his advocacy of all school activities. To promote closer relationship between the students and teachers he started this year a student advisory committee which discusses the problems that arise in our daily school life and possible solutions for them. In like manner has he endeavored to please everyone while always maintaining the ideals of the school. Page F fue

Au Sy- IQ' ZX 4 1 4 M. I' I 'I . ,A -. HAl.Ii BRADT IZDITH BOUSLOG BI.YTHIi SCALES A life is like an oil painting. Its true beauty and value are better appreciated from a dis- tance. Citizens of Indiana. Texas. Arizona, Virginia, and North Dakota are better citivens lecause of principles of self-control and honor instilled into them by the life and precept of Mr. Bradt. Quietly and unobtrusively he has built and is still building character. Mrs. Bouslog. Dean of Girls. is an example for all girls to follow. She has made many friends in her first year with us: not only among the girls but the entire student body. It is to Mr. Scales that the Junior High students go with their troubles and problems. Here they find a sympathetic listener, and an interested adviser. As principal of the Junior High School. his authority is of the type which children respect and honor. Mr. Scales has held this position for three years and has proved himself worthy of the school. S'I'IZl,l.A ROUSIE IDA I7I.IEIiNER KATHERINE McDOVVEl.I. Increasing work in the office due to rapid growth of the school has made it necessary to employ another assistant. Miss Rouse was chosen and her chief duty is that of student adviser. In addition to her office duties she teaches home economics. Although the students hear and see very little of Miss Fleener, she is an indispensable per- son. For twenty years she has been secretary to the superintendent and to the school board. XVith her duties as secretary she is busily engaged keeping the minutes. issuing school warrants and checks. and looking after records of school business. Whenex'er a question arises about anything in regard to school routine we go to Miss McDowell. She is clerk in the office and when nobody else can answer our questions or help us out of trouble Miss McDowell comes to the rescue. Page Six
