BLOOMINGTON For the first time in fou1'teen years, Bloomington put a football team on the field. ln the first game with Jasonville, the husky coal miners ealmly ran up a seore of sixty-six points, while Bloomington failed to get the ball at-ross Jasonville's yet unerossed goal-line. Bloomfield was able to foree only half as many points from the Purple gridders in the next game. Although Bloomington had yet to know the feeling that eomes with a touchdown, the team was fast developing a strong defense and offense. It was at Seymour that tl1e locals proved it to be so. For Esarey's and Poland infants romped over the field for a total of fifty-three markers. VS'orthington furnished the real football drama of the season. Although outweighed, and although Worthington held the ball on the loeal's goal line more than onee, tl1e game ended with the seore standing 7-G, in favor of lVorth- ington, but they had the sc-are of their lives. ln the last game of the year, Midland was able to seore three times on the Purple. The game ended 19-0 in Midland 's favor. This year 's football team wasn't wonderful as teams go, but it was a start. lt was the beginning of a sport that is destined to become as popular as the hard- wood game i11 future years.
