MR. WALTER 1... REED S B. S. M. S. TEXAS A811 N.'r.s.T.C. To The Senior s : You have traveled the high school highway for four years successfully overcoming all obstacles. You have coura- geously proved that you are now prepared to tackle the broader, more complex highways of life. As you travel the new highways, you will encounter more obstacles, more detours, and more dangers than you en- countered on the road you have so happily followed in high school. Choose carefully your route. Resolve to do your best. Do not be satisfied with anything less than the best results, but do not 'run over anyone to gain these results. Our best wishes will follow you wherever you may go. We hope your travels will be smooth, profitable and pleasant. Sincerely, Q4 X54 MR. CHARLES ROMINE B. S. N.T.S.T.C.

You have, I am sure, de- veloped physically, mentally, and spiritually through the experiences which have been yours. We trust sincerely that you have 1 learned to think. We know that thinking is a very difficult process. We knowthat in order f to think we must have ideas and that ideas . come as a result of knowledge and prior, Many times, no doubt, you have had ideas which were an inspirationto. you and yet because they were your ideas you dismissed them as worthlell., e, I should like to call your attention to the fact that an idea is a very powers, ful thing. Someone has said, The most potent, powerful, revolutionizingyfy thing in me world is AN IDEA. Ideas rule me world. An idea built, Universe. A single idea--the sudden flash of a thought--may be worth' million dollars, and one trained mind can be the sponsor of a momentouoz' I plan. In your brain are real ideas of power awaiting the miracle of birth up i s ' Believe in your ideas, weigh them, test them and prove them. Let me illustrate: Columbus' idea of sailing west to India gave birth to Ameriom Edison had an idea--and gave the incandesent light. Andrew Carnegieflash- f ed an idea into steel--and it paid him multi-millions. Woolworth hadjust a 5 and 10 cent idea--but the stores he sprinkled over the country have made fortunes. Henry For-d's idea of the horseless carriage made him oneoi the most wealthy men the world has known. i V, f . ell e.f There are many hundreds of other illustrations that could be cited to it lill you which would prove the power of ideas. I am merely urging you to learn to think your way through your problems by studying and formulating original if ideas to be used in the solution of them. uf- :,, faux: ' -It f., T11 ' I Sizzff if A1 ,L ,, ..., s .
