X' ' 4' -,-s -'V 39 59 45 49 51 57 60 65 66 68 OPEN HGUSE On November 10 1958 the Board of Educatlon extended a fnendly welcome to all nelghbors v1s1t1ng our new Bloomlng Pra1r1e IUHIOX' Semor Hlgh School bulldmg durlng the open house The present h1gh school bu1ld1ng was constructed for 540 h1gh school puplls Our bu1ld1ng has been deslgned wxth expansxon 111 mmd lf the dlSt1'1Ct 1S further enlarged The bulldlng IS so constructed that the academlc classrooms are sep rated from the vocatlonal shop area band area and gymnaslum The e'Ilt11'8 plant 1S located on 2623 acres and allows not only for future bulldmg CXPBHSIOH, but also ample phySlCal educatlon playground area parklng space and areas for plantmg test plots and for so1l practice areas by our Vocatlonal Agrlcultural classes The gymnaslum aud1tor1um has a regulation 50x84 basketball court that wlll seat approx1mately 1 600 for basketball games A 35x72 stage IS also deslgned to be used as a stage gym The commons the feature area of the bu1ld1ng looks eastward and prov1des a v1ew of the village of Bloomlng Pra1r1e The commons serves as a ultra modern school lunchroom study hall lobby for gym and the social center for the school and school cafetena The bu1ld1ng was completed and ready for occupancy m September 1957 Approxmmately 1200 people were taken on gulded tours of the school The Bloormng Prame Hlgh School band under the dlrectlon of Chfford jones played two one half hour concerts ln the gymnaslum Lunch was served by the FT A members 1 9 A. . . . . , . . , .. . Some of the projects taken up by the members are teach- ing Sunday School and helping in regular classrooms to assist teachers. Their special project this year is to buy Christmas gifts for needy children. A scholarship will be given to any deserving high school senior who is going to enter the Held of teaching by the Blooming Prairie Education Association and the PTA. ART The Blooming Prairie High School has acquired a new department that places its emphasis upon art for the seventh and eighth grades. All facilities in this department are new and interesting. The younger children cnioy experimenting in the various Helds of art, such as color combinations. copper and aluminum.
