One of the most memorable events of the year was the delightful comedy, Yes and No ' which was presented by the senior class on April 27, 1951 under the direction of Mrs. Thomas. The plot of the play revolves around the heroine, Jo, who is torn between the alternate decisions of Yes and No' in answer to a pro- posal of marriage from Adrian. Act 1 shows what might have happened if Jo had said no. The second act shows the outcome of an acceptance of the proposal. The Epilouge shows what actually happened. The plot was more confused by Adrian pursuing Sally, Jo's sister, and Bagshot falling in love with Jo. The humor which resulted froa this unusual situation provided much entertainment to an appreciative aud ience. Mrs. Webb. • Rev. Jarrow. Mrs. Jarrow. Pat Holmes, portrayed by JoAnn Cipra, was a movie-struck teenager with Freddie uses his inf1uence . three serious problems--her father (Ronald Turnner) bringing home as his bride, the teacher who failed Pat in geometry, a younger sister (Eileen Bray) staring in the movies, and last but not least the big moment of her life, Freddie Amberly (Lyle Muller) escorting her to all social events but never admitting that he was her boyfriend. Annabelle Wilson, (Jeannette Brudwick) tried to charm Freddie into taking her to the dance but, as always, tomboy Bunny Post and giggley Myra Ed- wards, delightfully acted by Dorcar Milton and Norma Kubista stood faithfully by Pat, thoughout the crisis. Mrs Holmes was played by Nancy Foster, Rosie, the housekeeper, who had put up with the family for years, by Catherine McDonald, the domineering Aunt Florence by Rita Styndl, and Murphy, the chauffeur, who turned out to be Aunt Florence's husband, by Adrian Christenson. Albert Davidson, the re- porter on the local weekly paper and enthusiatic member of the school •4 • h • t t m was humorously portrayed by Dean Milton. Oh, Daddy, you didn’t! The festivities of the 1950 Homecoming celebration began on Thursday night at Victory Field where the traditional bonfire, and afterwards the snake dance through main street, took place. On Friday, October 13, Marian Amundson was crowned Queen of Homecoming. Her attendants were Lois Wold, Gloria Johnson, Darlene Eaker, and Marianne Schiller. Queen Marian was crowned and robed by the captain of the football team, Jack Brainerd. Robert Coughlin, the president of the Senior Class, presented the Queen with a bouquet of chrysan- themums and red roses. While the royal party was seated on the stage, Nancy Foster sang, For You. Then Marian presented each member of the team with a lucky penny on a black ribbon. Following the ceremony, a short pep fest was given in the gym- nasium, which consisted of speeches by alumni and others. After the exit of the Queen and her attendants, there was a parade uptown in which the royalty rode in a convertible which was led by the band and majorettes, and fol- lowed by the class floats, of which the Freshman Class were the win- ners. That night the Hayfield Vik- ings fell to the Blossoms, 18-0. Saturday night, the Homecoming Dance was held at the Gymnasium which ended the celebration. Out of the first 6 games the Blossom gridders lost only to St. Augustine. They then finished their football schedule by dropping 3 conference games. The boys crossed the goal line for 169 points for a game average of 18.8 while holding their oppo- nents to 114 points for an average of 12.7 per game. The Blossoms fielded a strong defensive line and at times showed a terrific scoring punch. Their record was 18 wins, 4 defeats with three defeats coming during the early part of the season and the fourth coming in the finals of the District II Championship by a strong Austin team who represented Region I in the state tourna- ment. The climax and turning point of our season was when we scored 19 points in the last 4Vi minutes to defeat Janesville 54 to 53. Each and everyone who saw that game will agree that the last four min- utes will live in their minds for a long time. Six seniors bid farewell to their playing days as Blossom cagers. They are: Captain David Os- wald, always a scrappy, hard driving leader; Bruce Rockne, the reliable play maker; John '‘Bucket Ulland, the fantastic shot artist; Ed ''Mikan Riveness, who made them when they counted; Bob Coc- ker Coughlin, the small but mighty dynamo; and Irvin “fat man Anderson, who specialized in long shots and fouls. Good luck to you fellows and may you continue your sports enthusiasm.
