Excitedly and rather hurriedly the seniors rushed home at six o'clock to dress after spending the entire day decoratingg a short two hours later, all had emerged from utilitarian cocoons into the glamorous outfits of social butterflies. We danced from nine 'til one to the music of Pat Burd and his orches- tra. During intermission, Henry Tilley surprised us with his piano dexterity as he played soft background music. After all had partaken of refreshments, voting was carried on. The 1958 Club Serenade Queen was chosen! Her Majesty Dianne Grossi was attended by Lois Radin and Jean Pinney. Shortly before the end of Club Serenade, Santa Claus dropped in to wish a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! 30 UNDERKZASSMEN SA Casad J -Do N U Qc. .4 O SC S Fro Fckhart OJ bL Correrre rchl AF ght O 1' I Seated eft 2 VJ C 2 .M .D U ...Q , I i : . . VARSITY BASKETBALL Bloomfield High School finished the 1957-1958 basketball season with a sparkling 14-5 record. Bloomfield beat Ellsworth in the opener, then dropped the next game to Windsor Locks. It got back on the winning trail again by beating Berlin but again dropped its next game, this time to Portland. After this one we triumphed over St. Thomas and Canton, a loss to Bacon followed. After the Christmas vacation Bloomfield won 3 straight over Simsbury, Suffield, and East Hampton. Windsor Locks scored high in the next game, but we came back with a win over Berlin, losing our next game to Portland established our record at 8-5. Bloomfield won their last 6 games defeating East Hampton, Canton, Bacon, Ells- worth, St. Thomas, and Suffield to make the record 14-5. A fine array of players constituted this year's team. The starting forwards were Rich LaBrie and Fran juda, both Fine rebounders, who could score when we needed the points. Occupying the center position was Bill Moreland, one of the highest scorers in Bloomfield history. At the guard posts were Fred Keating and Julian Scruse who set up the team's plays. Fred was the team's second high scorer. Heading the substitutes were Tom Walsh, a scrappy defensive player, and big Lee Bergamini. Other subs who helped out were joe Federico, Tom Hamilton and Harold Douglas. JUNIOR VARSITY BLOOMFIELD VISITORS 69 ......,.................,,,.,,. Bloomfields cheerleaders have been ready to give a terrific performance in cheering the team on to victory both on the soccer field and the basketball court during this past year. Marie Lupo has shown excellent judgment in captaining the Varsity squad, and the rest of the girls, Lynda Palmer, Nancy Willoughby, Suzanne Gardner, Beverlee Shea, Lois Radin, Ginny Coit, and Sandy Levine have combined co- operation and skill to give Bloomfield a fine example of sportsmanship. This year the squad chose the best of the standard cheers such as Go Bloomfield Go and T-T and also introduced some popular new cheers including the sound cheer and F-I-G-H-T. All of these yells have been performed very effectively. The Junior Varsity squad has given a very creditable performance this year in cheering for Tuesday home games and all Friday night games. Kathy Pease, Marilyn Van Wie, Nancy Kulpa, Barbara Bauer, and Greta Pierce have shown good synchroniza- tion in their first year of cheering, and jane Corrette, as captain, has demonstrated much originality. The major aim of both squads this season has been the promotion of good sports- manship and good attendance at the games. Starting now, why not follow the lead of the squad - go to as many games as possible and show your pride in Bloomfield High. Varsity, left to right, top row L Palmer, N. Willoughby, V.
