SCOTLAND FESTIVAL SCOTLAND FESTIVAL GROWS AS TIME PASSES The Scotland Festival was started in 1965 by Mrs. Vea Hostettler and the Tri County Art Club with its first officers elected in 1968. The festival has almost tripled over the years. In 1965, the festival contained 23 flea markets and foods standsg in 1978 there were 64. The festival had an enormous amount of good food, special music, a parade, and lots of friends and family coming together to visit. Lower Left: This entertainer was one of the many that performed at the festival. The music was enjoyed by many people. Upper Right: Kim Cook enjoyed marching in the parade while playing Night Train. Middle: The Bloomfield Marching Cardinals are seen approaching the awaiting crowd. The band was one of the main attractions in the parade and was well enjoyed. FESTIVAL SUCCESS DESPITE BITTER COLD Q hmra ,,,, 'awk ,,t Entertainment covered gospel, country, disco music, and a square dance. The main attraction for the students was the disco. The disco was given by the Doc of Rock, the disc jockey from PFR Rock 103. Everyone tried out the latest disco dances they had practiced during the week. Tammy Hendren reigned as the '78 Apple Festival queen after the first night's activities. Apple Festival queen contestants collected donations from businesses for the Edith Gray Scholarship, presented their talent, and were interviewed by the judges. The Apple Festival is sponsored by the Bloomfield Jaycees. They are responsible for planning, organizing, and arranging the- festival. After everyone has gone home, members of the Jaycees are busy working during the early morning hours cleaning up the courthouse lawn. Upper Left: George Ockerman, demonstrates his ability of making apple butter the old-fashioned way. Upper Right: Using the courthouse steps to relax, Richie Williams decides what he will do next at the Apple Festival. Lower: After a fast ride down the slide, Charlie Michaels and Danny Todd jump out of the way of other riders. 11

INTRAMURAL Rocms TAKE THE CHAMPIONSH P E ROCKETS - Row 1: Jim Edwards, Roger Clark, Mike Reed, Matt Bland. Row 2: Steve Workman, Keith Graves, Rod Roblnette, Brian Frederick. lla 'MQW gfilfifhq 1 IntramLu'a1 basketball is played by high school boys not playing in the regular school basketball program. There are five teams with an average of twelve boys on each team. Each team has a senior captain. The boys play on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. The game begins at 7:30 and consists of two 15- minute halves. The championship game is played during an A-period at the end of January. This year the Rockets and the Bears played in the championship game with the Rockets coming out on top. Upper: As Keith Graves moves the ball down the court, he devises a way to maneuver around the other team's defense. Lower Left: With one thought in his mind - to increase his team's score - Jeff Goad shoots for two points. Lower Right: Starting the game off right for the Hawks, Kenny Edwards gets the tip-off. 13
