Bloomllelcl School In the sprtng of 1959 the Indtana General As sembly passed a law wh1ch encouraged COI'1SO11d21I101l for all schools wh1ch were not operattng well under present condmons Th1S law affected the c1t1zens tn and around Bloomfteld Indtana Students from R1ch land Taylor and H1ghlandTownsh1ps attendedBloom fleld Hlgh School but none of these corporattons had any say so about the operat1on of the school system no1 d1d they help to support f1nanc1ally the butldtng needs of the Bloomfield School Through publlc meettngs speeches newspaper arttcles the people of Bloomfteld and the surroundmg commumttes realtzed the need for a consoltdated school d1str1ct The c1t1zens knew that the law po1nted out that some actton would have to be taken and the people them selves wanted to do what had to be done Thus two electtons were held one 1n R1chland Townsh1p nother 1n Htghland The people of these terr1tor1es voted overwhelmlngly tn favor of the consol1dat1on Thele were no electtons needed 111 the town of dat1on now called the Bloomf1eld School D1str1ct became off1c1alJuly 6 1959 One change that was brought about by th1s consoltdatlon concerned the school board Instead of havtng only three men from the town of Bloom fteld the School Board now conststs of seven members who represent all the townshtps and the town The consoltdauon has provlded many beneftts Elementary schools enjoy a htgher rattng now than before the Bloomf1eld School D1str1ct was formed Rural schools wmch tnclude W1ldcat Calvertvtlle Fumace and Scotland prof1t from th1s new cor poratlon These schools now have access to all the oppo1tun1t1es that the Bloomfteld Elementary School enjoys Frances Ktllmger pr1nc1pal of the Bloom fteld Elementary Schools supervtses these rural schools as well as Bloomf1eld G1 ade School and supervtses the1r 1nstructors Teachmg matertals are provlded and supp11es wh1ch prevtously had to be bought by the students are provtded by the School D1strict All students have a better oppo1 tumty to recetve more tn educat1on than before All the schools have better more complete l1brar1es wnmnm smrrn mm , STOCKTON GRAN T FAIRPLAY STAFFORD WAS HIN GZON CASS Township Mop .
