l ip, ws r l il 'F I A. DIXI CROSBY A. Uixi Crosby, B.H.S.'s well-known English teach- er, is a combination of wit and talent. A Dartmouth graduate, he taught in Gilford College, North Carolina as he-ad of the English Department. He left this job for theatrical work, but came to Bloomfield to get away from the footlightsf' Mr. Crosby left this high sehool at the outbreak of World War I and enlisted in the Armed Forces as a buck private. When the war ended, he returned home to resume his teaching career. After Pearl Harbor, he again entered the serv- ice, this time as Captain Crosby. During the war years, he trained men in the States and flew with them to battle zones in the South Pacihc. He again returned to B.H.S. after V.J'. Day. This cultured gen- tleman is deeply interested in llltlsitj and poetry and enjoys writing both. He produced Hamlet and 'gMac- beth at B.H.S. and coached senior plays for twenty- five years. Everyone will miss versatile, humorous Mr. Crosby. Every time that we sing the Alina Mater, we will be reminded of its author, Dixi Crosby. ' 19 S 66 31.11115 JEANETTE McLELLAN Jeanette McLellan, known to everyone in B.H.S. as one of our efhcient secretaries in the central office, is a native of New York City. She attended public schools there and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from N. Y. U. and the Master of Arts degree from Columbia Uni- versity. Miss McLellan was Registrar and Treasurer for a number of years at a private school in New York City. For a year she taught English, Latin, and French at Banner Elk College in North Carolina. Then she came to Bloomfield, where she has been employed for eighteen and one-half years. Outside of school Miss McLellan enjoys musical concerts and lectures, as well as the theater. She likes sports, too, especially basketball and tennis. Al- though her plans for the future are not definite as yet, Miss McLellan hopes to continue work in the field of education. ? ifree I '-ti
