DEDICATION The members of the Blossom Staff of 1952-53 proudly dedicate this year- book to our sponsor, Mrs. James Walk- er. She has spent much time and effort in making this llth Volume of the Blos- som a success. Without such a capable and understanding sponsor, this publi- cation would have been impossible. Her interest in the individual and in all phases of education has made her a favorite with everyone. HIGH SCHOOL SONG There's a school upon the hill We are very proud of herg Where the mocking birds are heard For since 1898, she has Down in Southeast Missouri in her gloryg Stood as a peerless school of learning. And we claim her as our own In declamatory fights With a pride that never wanes, She has carried off the prize We'll tell of her fame in song and story, While other schools for victory were yearning, With the basket and the ball We will stand for Bloomfield High She is noted for her fame, And defend her worthy name, And no team can break down her mighty standard: Though we bid her farewell and go forever: Every student in accord We will think of all the days Has the spirit of the high, When within her honored walls, And to win by her colors we are banded, There was born for her a love that none can sever Chorus: It is victory today For the purple and the Gold The Colors of the Bloomfield High: We will climb the- highest hill, And will shout with voices bold The praises of the Bloomfield High. F OREWORD With the publication of this Volume ll of The Blossom, it is our hope that each reader will pause for a moment and consider, with gratitude, the prayers, sacrifices, time, and money that were the building blocks of our education. Because of freedom-loving men and women who dedicated themselves to the up-building of a school sys- tem, we stand before the door of opportunity and see it open for us. As we leave our school days behind, we must turn our vision to the future, strive to further the march of freedom, and provide for others the opportunities of education that were given us. 2
