She has spent much time and effort in making this llth Volume of the Blos- som a success. Without such a capable and understanding sponsor, this publi- cation would have been impossible. Her interest in the individual and in all phases of education has made her a favorite with everyone. HIGH SCHOOL SONG There's a school upon the hill We are very proud of herg Where the mocking birds are heard For since 1898, she has Down in Southeast Missouri in her gloryg Stood as a peerless school of learning. And we claim her as our own In declamatory fights With a pride that never wanes, She has carried off the prize We'll tell of her fame in song and story, While other schools for victory were yearning, With the basket and the ball We will stand for Bloomfield High She is noted for her fame, And defend her worthy name, And no team can break down her mighty standard: Though we bid her farewell and go forever: Every student in accord We will think of all the days Has the spirit of the high, When within her honored walls, And to win by her colors we are banded, There was born for her a love that none can sever Chorus: It is victory today For the purple and the Gold The Colors of the Bloomfield High: We will climb the- highest hill, And will shout with voices bold The praises of the Bloomfield High. F OREWORD With the publication of this Volume ll of The Blossom, it is our hope that each reader will pause for a moment and consider, with gratitude, the prayers, sacrifices, time, and money that were the building blocks of our education. Because of freedom-loving men and women who dedicated themselves to the up-building of a school sys- tem, we stand before the door of opportunity and see it open for us. As we leave our school days behind, we must turn our vision to the future, strive to further the march of freedom, and provide for others the opportunities of education that were given us. 2 ln Hike fp: Amsl BLOOMFIELD HIGH SCHOOL mf Q Vgg x . The team got off to a slow start. However, after the team had a chance to develop,it began to win regular- ly,using a ball-contro-1 style of play. Even when the Wildcats lost, it was usually by a close score. The high point of the season was the Parma Invitational Tournament held at Parma, Missouri, Dec. 30-Jan. 3, in which the Wildcats won first place honors. Their opening game in the tournament was with Bernie, whom they defeated 34-33. In the quarter-finals the Wildcats faced Gray Ridge, taking a 49-45 victory from them in overtime. The semi-finals found the Wildcats against the Parma Pirates. Bloomfield edged out the Pirates in another close game 31-29. In the finals, the Wildcats won a bitterly contested game from Essex 37-34. Each game was exciting up to its breathless finish, and certainly no other of their victories could have been more satisfying than these to the team. t,, T 41 BASKETBALL A TEAM lst Row: Jim Aslin, Ernie Hill, Addison Lawrence, Frank Holder, Jerry Hester. 2nd Row: Joe Mayo, Gary Bolin, Manager, Jim Poe, Wayne Walker, Reeves Sadler, Bobby Kirby, Manager, Dean Shipman, Coach Jim Spencer.
