WALTER SHUBLOM, COACH IlASKHBAll Coach Shublom called the first basketball practice of the season October 14, 1950, and had eight lettermen from last years squad plus several Juniors and ten Sophomores, who were the B team as Freshmen the season before. Wildcats 69 - Bernie Mules 46 The Wildcats opened up on their home court and won lay a large score as Red Wilson connecte for 32 points. The Wild- cats won this one without the services of Weldon Harris as he was out with injuries. Wildcats 69 - Bernie Mules 50 Again the Bloomfield boys were hot as they defeated Beniie for the second time this season. Paul Phelan and Willis Jenn- in had 21 points each, and Weldon Harris an? Red Wilson had I2 points each. Wildcats 79 - Bell City Cubs 40 This was the nite the Wildcats wore their new white suits for the first time and they really broke them in right as every one was hitting from the floor. Red Wilson set what is be ieved to be a modern record for a Bloomfield high school player as he scored 38 points. Wildcats 60 - Campbell 56 Paul Phelan and Red Wilson teamed up for 42 points between them which, along with the fine team work of Bill Alexander, Willis Jennings, Bob Patrick, and Weldon Harris was enough to down the strong Camv- bell team after the Wildcats had trailed for three quarter. Fisk Pirates 66 - Wildcats 47 This was the game that the Wildcats were playing one of the tallest teams in South East Missouri. The Pirates reall poured it on the Wildcats. This was Bob Patricks last ame as he married and quit school. This feft Coach Shublom with just five men on his A squad. St. Marys Bulldogs 60 - Wildcats 40 This was another tall team. The out- sized Wildcats put up a good battle, but came out second best.
