SLATER Professor of Ancient Languages and Theology FOR ELEVEN YEARS his Christian devotion to home, church, and school has been an inspiration to those conscientiously pursu- ing their tasks here in Bloomfield College and Seminary. To lovers of Wisdom, he has opened up his mind to give at his rich store of knowledge. To lovers ot Truth, he has opened up his heart to have them join in his fellowship with Christ. To lovers ot Music, he has opened up his tamily circle to have them share in the inspiration of the classics. To him, in grateful appreciation, we dedicate this journal. 1 J 1 77417 ' Bloomfield College and Seminary Bloomfield, New jersey OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT TO THE CLASS OF 1943: All education looks toward the development of self-disciplined individuals. It seeks to produce characters that need no external constraints for the right employ- ment of their powers. Christianity puts its emphasis upon the social as well as upon the individual virtues. It views man in his relation to his fellows and calls on him to play his part in the world's corporate life. I trust that here you have received such training and inspiration as will constrain you to act well your part in the drama of life that just now exhibits such tragic features, that you will labor for a better world and by your sacrificial and consecrated service will reflect credit on our Institution and on the religion you profess. Remember, that while you have finished your course here your education is not completed. we shall follow you with our interest and our prayers and may the best of good fortune attend you. Very sincerely yours, President. ,J 151 I A i MRS. JULIA LAUFFER A JOHN DIKOVICS, M.A., D.D.. SCHOOLS AT WAR COMMITTEE One of the two important school committees appointed to assist our institution and its members in their endeavors to participate in the national war effort. The Schools At War Committee in co-operation with the national school program has undertaken the sale of war bonds and stamps to the members of the student body and administration. The efforts of this committee resulted in l00fM1 participation and were responsible for the receipt of a Minute Man Flag from the United States Treasury Department. This flag now proudly waves on our campus. By the end of the school year sales of war bonds and stamps will have reached the 56,000.00 mark. With the interest and safety of all members of the student body at heart the committee has sought to improve conditions within our school. Not satisfied with maintaining air raid and blackout regulations only, the group has gone on to rid the campus of fire hazards and to arrange the installation of proper preventative measures.
