Life is what we make it, In this worlcl of sin, Always be a victorious loser. As well as one that wins. Life is what we make it, Each and every clay, Help others lift their burdens, O'er this rough and rugged way. If some days get so clark, They seem to make you pine, Remember after the darkness, The sun will always shine. By Florine Ball I 941 CLAII DDODHECY Recently we strolled into the classroom and turned on the radio. Strange voices, weird music, issued forth and we heard these words ..... This is Station F. U. T. Who knows? INTEIY-I NL CLAII HIIIDIQY ln September nineteen hundred thirty-eight about seventy boys and girls assembled eager to start on their quest of knowledge for the year. To reach our goal no task seemed too great and no problem too difficult. We probably were as green as any other Freshman class but aftera while we began to show some ability and broke into scholastic, athletic, and social life. At our class election Alta Lemon was elected president and Mr. Harold Hagen our class adviser. We had class parties and a weiner roast near the close of school. When choosing a cheer-leader we found Vivian Skaggs could really yell. Before the close of our Freshman year Virginia Willis was chosen majorette ofour High School Band. As Sophomores we started the year with an electicn. Florine Ball was elected president and Miss Frances Ault, adviser. Many of the boys entered into the athletic activities and several of the girls signed up for basketball. We were proud to boast of placing three Sophomore girls on the first team: Marjorie Mault, Mary Hollback, and Lorraine Potts. Several of our members had the honor of being outstanding pupils that year. Leonard Smith ranked highest in the Elimination Test in Biology in Portsmouth. We had class parties and weiner rcasts to make our Sophomore year thoroughly pleasant. We entered our junior year with our membership decreased to about forty-five. We elected John Davis, president, and Mrs. Marcella Stevens Donley, class adviser. We sold Xmas cards, candy, pencils, etc. in order that we might give the Seniors a good banquet. We had several parties and near the end of the school term we gave a class play, lVlary-Go-Round, under the direction of Mrs. Donley. We lost several of our prominent members who were bound by the ties of matrimony, thus decreasing our class number to forty-one. Three of our boys were placed on the basketball team which won the County Tournament. Two of cur members, Nellie Williams and Marjorie Mault, won first and second places in shorthand in the county and then represented this school in the district test at Athens. The junior-Senior Banquet was held at the Rendezvous. Later we enjoyed a movie at the Columbia Theatre. The word finish was stamped in all our minds for this was the end of our junior class activities. ln our Senior year john Davis was re-elected president. Miss Ruth Harrel, who was chosen class adviser, has proved to be a very good nne. Two prominent cheer leaders, Vivian Skaggs and Marjorie Nlault, are members of our class. The day that our class rings and name cards came, our hearts beat faster for we realized then that our school days were numbered. Our class has now decreased until we have but thirty-eight to say goodbye to South Webster High in the formal manner. At the end of this school year we leave cur good will and best wishes to the Juniors who we know will step into our shoes and will carry on the work next year as Seniors. IWEHIW-IW!
