mum Q iw l 4 Bloom' Fire Rages on Just as fireworks are a symbol of celebrating the nation's pride, Bloom is a symbol of the celebration of the education and pride of its students and faculty. This distinctive pride was shown in yet another way over the past year as Bloom was recognized as a Na- tional Historic Landmark. Bloom has earned this cov- eted place on the National Register of Historic Places because of the bold. decorative art deco style which dominates the building. The ornate zig-zags of the tower and the ornamental grill work above the main doors, on the second story balconies, on the doors of VeazyAGym and the old library windows are iust a few of the details which typify the art deco style. Both the sculptures outside the main entrance and the six murals in the foyer were proiects of the Works Progress Administration, established in l935 and I936. They. too, were reasons for the honor bestowed on Bloom. an honor which now enables Bloom tore- ceive grants and federal loans to preserve and restore the richness of its past-of our past. The tradition has been established: now it is up to us to carry it on with the pride and dedication it deserves. Those who re- ceive diplomas from Bloom High School have further evidence now that they have received a good educa- tion from a school of which they can be forever proud! l l JI
