Trojans Stand Tall Streaking Concerns Students of the Seventies QFrom a I974 issue of The Broadcasterj Streaking seems to be the big thing these days. Many newscasts are carrying stories of streakers. A radio station in Chicago gave away free Streak Suits consisting of tennis shoes and a ski mask. Kids are talking about who streaked where with whom. With all this interest presently being shown in streaking, it would seem apporpriate to talk to a person who has streaked and get a first-hand opinion on the subject. According to the streaker source, streaking just was not that great. Some of the comments from the streaker were that he only did it because his friends were. He also said that he was never so embar- assed in his life, and he would never do it again. 'Ir . ,avff

Perhaps this is why most people look down on the hippies, society is based on conformity and hippies are non-conform- ists. Thus, they are disliked by society. 'All this new culture wants is to be left alone. Unfortunately, this isn't always pos- sible,' one hippie reports. 'Everywhere l went there were people ready to start trouble. Most of these people were elderly and they would say something like 'what zoo did you come from?' This didn't both- er me because l was dressing for myself. l think that they are just trying to es- cape from reality, he commented. And they certainly are trying to escape from cleanliness because they never take baths. Mr. La Marte was queried as to whether he held these beliefs about all hippies or just the more far-out ones, the drug-takers. He said that he believes that all of them fall into such a category, but the hippies on the LSD kick are the worst. l think all of the west coast hippies smoke pot, he stated. But he is certain that no kids in the immediate vicinity are involved in this movement.

By Michael Haley in a I972 issue of The Broadcaster spending two weeks studying for a test on Biology and on the test day you find out the test is on Algebra. ...having the prettiest girl in school in one of your classes and finding out she's your first cousin. . . .cursing out a teacher and destroying her room on the last day of school of your sophomore year and finding out that as a junior you have her for three classes. . . . being all-conference, all-state, all-area and all- American for your school in basketball, football and baseball and being ranked number one in smarts at school and your school gives you a scholarship to Prairie State College. And to top that, you flunk the entrance test. . .. spending forty-dollars on a pair of pants that you think are really cool and wearing them to school and everybody laughs at you. ...walking on the stage graduation day to get your diploma with seventeen of your relatives waiting to take your picture and you trip and fall down and roll off the stage on top of the organ player and turn over the organ player, too. 6
