421651-f ff O QQQV f-C6612 OOO THE M ORGUE The Morgue, pictured below left, was the place to be during the l950's. An example of its popularity can be found in this excerpt from the I953 Annual: This year the Morgue was nearly dis- solved because of controversy over Old Bloom. The Morgue Board, however, was able to reserve St. Agnes Hall for most of the year and thus kept the Morgue operating. The school board then decided to repair Old Bloom instead of selling it. Members and non- members both worked along with the paint- ers and carpenters to speed the reconstruc- tion and to enable the Morgue to move back into its original building. The Morgue has provided many Bloomites with recreation for years and has given them a place to meet their old friends and a chance to make new ones. This ideal for a youth recreation center grew out of discus- sion in problems of democracy classes. , , fn fl Gees! I. To act daily in accordance with the school motto, Service and Loyalty. 2. To support all school enterprises and organizations to the best of our abilities. 3. To practice good sportsmanship in work and play. 4. To follow the Golden rule in relation to students and teachers. 5. To work for the good of the whole stu- dent body and the good name of the school 6. To cultivate in ourselves and others a strong sense of right and wrong. 7. To conform to the rules of our school on all occassions in word or deed. The Annual, l953 Fifties Lingo Are you a solid Jackson who likes to give out with the double talk? You are? Well, this bit of nonsense might interest you then. The other day I was walking down the hall, and l overheard two slick chicks drooling over a hunk of man. The conversation went something like this. Yes, my big bruiser is plenty po- tent. . . he's hep, hep, hep, with heli- um and that's more than l can say for that jerk of all trades that you hang out with. Don't be too sure of yourself. Say, latch your lashes on that super- man coming down the hall. Then the bell rang and those guy- goony pigeons went to class to dream about their one and only. Broadcaster, I95l

F h-I This school year students will be faced with new responsibilities and challenges. As in no previous years, the student body is divided on two campuses. Formerly, the school's spirit has been shown to be one of enthusiasm and unanim- ity at all social and academic affairs. Now the same enthusiasm should be shown, whether the event is at the school of the little Bloo- mites or at the junior-senior division. Phys- ically, the four classes are now divided but their spirit must remain united. Meeting challenges is nothing new to Bloo- mites, and with teamwork and concentrated effort, this challenge, too, can be met suc- cessfully. g There is no doubt that Bloom is bigger than ever before and that it will require unity and effort to make it the bestl Rebellion Rul .l. 1 . , j 4 J Broadcaster, I964 'O J ' Q i H Q 1 When it comes to negative feelings mll'l'0l'l about first hour gym, one can say it One hundred eighty-four eyes of hate, hasn't changed in decades.
