hysical Ed classes strengthen the bod Physical education classes for Bloom boys and girls provide a relaxing change from the academic atmos- phere of their other daily classes. These classes are not only fun but also rewarding because the students benefit from the numerous facilities provided to strengthen the body, learn fundamentals and develop basic skills in many athletic endeavors. Students utilize such facilities such as the field house, swimming pool, tennis courts, hockey fields and other athletic equipment to the fullest. , Usually, class activity is changed every three or six weeks which allows time for a wide variety of sports to be played each year. Activities included are archery, trampo- lines, co-educational volleyball and dancing, swimming and gymnastics. All students at Bloom are required to take gym all four years of high school, every day of the week. This class helps to strenghten the mind and the body. The trampoline is one of the first activities introduced to the student at the Frosh-Soph Division. This freshman boy comes down for a front drop as his fellow students spot him. During alninth hour gym class, senior boys are busy building and strengthening their muscles on a new apparatus machine set-up in the field house. 24

Homemakers learn skills for future The girl who enrolls in homemaking courses will learn basic skills and gain valuable experience that the woman of today needs to know before she begins to take care of her own family and home. The Homemaking Department offers a variety of courses to interested Bloom girls. In these classes girls learn the rudiments of sewing, how to deal with children, the preparation and serving of food and other things that make a house a home. During the year various projects such as the fashion show helped to promote the girls interest as well as her self-pride. Janice Wright works on sewing a straight seam while Marcha Darnell concentrates on cutting out material from the dress pattern she has se- lected to work on for the fashion show. Preparing a meal is not always as easy as opening a can. Diane Streib uses her knowledge gained in cooking class to prepare a luncheon salad. sign, .
