With the philosophy ol why should a man earn more than he needs il he can't take it to the Pearly Gates, the Senior Class successfully presented You Can't Take It With You to nearly 1700 people and provided them with two and a half hours ol hilarious, heartwarming entertain- ment in the iarcical vein. Messrs. Hart and Kauffman wove into the eight-day excerpt from the Iiie oi the zany Sycamore family the tender love story of Alice Sycamore and Tony Kirby and came up with a comedy that provided laughs galore, not to mention sleepless nights and gray hairs for Miss Leitha Paulsen, director. Above the din of xylophone, printing press, and fire- works, calm, lovable Grandpa solved the eternal problem-- the problem blocking Alice and Tony's marriage-the social clash between two families, in this case the rich Kirbys and the happy Sycamores. And so the final curtain dropped with the typical Syca- more dinner scenee-Grandpa starting grace by leaning back, looking heavenward, and addressing I'Iim with, Well Sir . . . , then, alter grace, the whole table breaking into absolute bedlam. All that is Ielt is a memory, but you CAN take that with you. 31 W 555.6-,:,w f1.-5.-Kg, :V wi are 5 f- W, Y as ff I gig, x I Y ' f O 2333375 625' 5429, S5 xl: ,pk if!-,V Q ygs' , -v .?'N1f aww - X iw ES' Q 1 V: M y 54 432 1, 4 1b g l :EW i 5, f' X iw wu- r x 4 A 49 a x , V , A, . 1 .,: , Q- ' 5 Q ix Q. It was an inspired team that stopped Thornton on the two yard line For Four downs and gained For Bloom a three-way tie in the South Suburban with Thornton and Blue lsland. Following the traditional snalce dance, the Trojans Faced the favorites rflhornton. Although a driving snow made the ball almost impossible to handle, the squad came through, winning by a score of 13-0. The crowd went wild as Bloom forced the now disheart- ened 'lhorntonites backfbaclc tothe seven yard line and held them there till it was the Trojans' chance at the ball. By winning the Thornton game the Trojans not only tied For the South Suburban but also upheld a seven year record of either tying or winning this championship. Pre-conference games found the team with Four defeats and one win, but they showed their real colors in the con- ference play by losing only one game, that to Blue Island by a 13-O score. 37 bvechi, R. Love-coached teams have now won 35 games and dropped 16 over a two-year span. The Trojans won 18 out of '26 games and placed third in the South Suburban League. Three of the defeats were charged to our arch rival-Thornton. The varsity cagers also copped third place in the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Victories over top ranlcing Bradley and Litchfield were two of the year's highlights. Bill Schoof, junior pivotman, and four seniors formed the nucleus around which the rest of the team was built. School, incidentally, was the club's leading scorer with 399 points. Paul Brown, ace rebounder, playmalcers Sampson Rice and Norman Collins, and number one reserve Boyd Blod- gett will depart through graduation. Their contributions to the team will be hard to replace. A resounding thud was heard as the tumblers rolled over the mats. Organized this year, the club was under the leadership of Miss Louise Spechalslfe. Her acrobatic girls began their stunts early last fall and continued throughout the year, making it an all-season sport. To add to the growing enthusiasm, the Board oi Education bought two new mats early last fall. Every Monday noon the Bloomites met to perlect graceful pyramids and execute single stunts. Their first public appearance of the year, the Open House held March 20, showed the talents ol the tumblers to the public. The enthusiasm of the girls was such that girls toolc their places beside the mats this year. GAA points were given to the girls to round out their acrobatic year. FIRST ROW: D. Telter, Griese, S. Junior and senior gals climbed aboard the Sharp Tacs Special carrying the necessary luggage, their ideas and ambitions. The purpose of this trip was to help the high school girl with personality problems, what-to-wear problems and what the future will have in store for her. The main stops of the train were the teas, trips and all-girl assembly. The fueling spot of the season was the tallc As Others See Us, given by Mrs. O. McCarn, dean of students at the University of Chicago. Miss Viola Herr was conductor, with Rosemary Klyczelc and Joanne Gordon as co-engineers. The college group was headed by Connie Stead and Miss Herr, sponsor, the Three C5's by Carol McCradie, Miss Oxborrow, sponsor, the personality group by Pia Capua, Miss Bagby sponsor, and the career group by Karlene Genotte, Miss Boyce, sponsor. Cheerleaders We're from Bloom- couldn't be proudern-ol our cheerleaders, that is. These energetic gals were on hand at all the games along with the Trojan mascots, Pepper and Ensign, to lead the students in the noise department and spur the Fellows on to victory. Led by Diane Schmeclce- bier and sponsored by Miss Louise Spechalslce, these cheerleaders practiced dili- gently every Wednesday. Nice going, galsl Majorettes LEFT TO RIGHT: Alexander, A. Perozzi, D. Milligan. This portion ol the pep patrol although very small, did its part in boosting the school spirit. These three mcrjorettes led the Snake Dance and twirled at the home lootball games. One ol the lectures ol their twirling exhibition was the goal-post throw made by the head majorette, Joann Alexander. Completing the trio of high- stepping gals were Anita Perozzi and Darlene Milligan. Mr. Koyl, the band leader, sponsored these gals. LEFT TO RIGHT: D. Schmeclcebier, C. Steed, J. Gordon, J.
