The Viking Star Bloom CC's journalism class of 19 to 22 students are responsible for the monthly student paper, THE VIKING STAR, and the school year book, THE SPECTRUM. While each publication is headed by editors, all class members write copy, do rewrite, proof read, make -up, paste up, crop pictures and Write headlines. New class members who joined the class second semester are unfortunately not in the class picture. But they are and have been at work along with the first semester class members. They are: Vicki Barrick, Grant Hamilton, Barbara Herbst, Thomas Hunniford, Pat Mclntire, Charles Pearson Darleen Scheiwe, and Carol Ann Sterritt. Student Government The student government, composed of the Board of Directors and the class officers, provides the desired link of communication between the administration and the students. As the representatives of the stu- dent body, the officers are responsible for the organization and promotion of dances and numerous social activities. In addition, this year the student government was successful in changing a number of dated rulesg the most prominent of which were rules permitting girls to wear slacks in the student lounge and li- brary, and the changing of school dance regulations. 20
