VEGA CAPTURES CHAMPIONSHIP Cammilo Vega was the new tourna- nt champ of the 1978 ping pong compe- on sponsored by the math club, Mu ha Theta. Following a three week tourna- nt, the division winners played each other, in six playoff matches. The 1978 division winners were Pat Muellenberntg Willie Williams, and Linda Hasford. A i Mu Alpha Theta Mu Alpha Theta is a national honor society in mathematics for the junior college student. Its purpose is to stimulate interest in mathematics by providing public recog- nition ol' superior mathematical scholarship and by promoting various mathematical activities. At their biweekly, the member- ship explore patterns, puzzles, and other curiosities, all of which have indirect or direct relationship to mathematical thinking. Guest speakers and films also form a part of the year's program. Initiation of new members is held in the Spring of each academic year. However, the biweekly meetings are open to all who enjoy puzzles, patterns, and curiosities. Officers: Mike Weiehmann, President, Wendy Farek, Vice-Presidentg Connie Parker, Sec.-Treas.g Auggie Darr, Student Council Representative. The Math Club sponsors the Ping Pong Touma- ment each year. 66

Beta Mu Chapter Phi Beta Lambda Phi Beta Lambda is a National Organiza- tion for students of Business Administration. The Blinn College Chapter was organized to develop competent aggressive business leadership and to create more interest and understanding in the intelligent choice of business occupations. The club encourages the organization of new chapters in the Dis- trict. Members are trained to perform the installation ceremony for newly organized. For the business majors and interested others, Phi Beta Lambda presents a chance for extra-curricular participation. Along with sponsor and business instructor Rickey Rabourn, selected club members attend the annual national convention. As a fund- raising project, members also sell programs at all home football games. According to Diana Bates, President of the organization, The business club provides an opportunity to gain insight into the different phases of the business world.
