Di vision of Fine Arts The Fine Arts Department offers a means of self-expression to the Blinn students. Abilities and talents are recog- nized, utilized, and developed. Speech students develop good speaking habits and learn about content in a speech. Students participate in area and State Speech meets and drama festival. Students in drama courses, theory and production, participate in productions. Both instrumental and vocal musicians find many areas for participation in performing groups. Classroom and labor- atory situations provide opportunities for development of musical skills and knowl- edge. The Drill Team offers opportunities for performing and training. Division of Social Science Economics, the science of common sense, provides students with the knowledge of reliable factors to make proper decisions in regard, very plainly, to money. This knowledge of these reliable factors will enable students to know, for example, proper investments to make, the best field of work, a11d generally how to be happy in life. Not only this, but also students are instructed on how past decisions were made and their effects on not only the economy, but also the society. The study of geography hinges to light certain decisions made by world citizens many years ago. Many times the physical Oris E. Decisions are also studied which affected civilization as it progressed through the many years of exis- tence. Government allows students to under- stand the decisions made by our forefathers as they prepared this nation for greatness. Students are encouraged to understand the decisions made by their elected represen- tatives in the modern world, to challenge those decisions and to make their own decision to replace those representatives who did not measure up to expectation.
