Homecoming Activities Homecoming activities began November 2 and ended Homecoming Day, November 5. Many campus organizations, as well as ex-student organizations, got together and participated in various activities which were taking place during Homecoming week. Climaxing the Homecoming Events was the announcement of Homecoming Queen, ugliest man on campus, and winners of the dorm decorations, announced during half- time ofthe Blinn-Kilgore game. A Bonfire was scheduled for 8:30 p. m., November 3, behind the new Performing Arts Building. jay Thrailkill, President of Circle K, said, Anybody on campus is welcome to work on the bonfire, because it is a school project. The bonfire was sponsored by Circle K, though the activity itself involved the whole student body. A dance following the bonfire, sponsored by the Student Council, was from 9 p.m. to 'l a.m. in the Student Center. Albatross', a local band played during the dance. Election for the Homecoming Queen, from a field of six finalists, was held on Thursday, November 3, from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m. in the Student Center. The six finalists were sophomores, Kathy Goodart from Rockdale, Tiana Golibart from Hockley, Tammy Menke from Bellville, joanne Corona from Houston, Mary K. Clay from LaFeria, and Susan Horstmann from Hallettsville. The six finalists were elected from a field of thirty-three candidates last Tuesday. The candidates and the clubs they represent were: Mary K. Clay, Ag Club, Susie Floyd, Spencer Hall, Tambreia Burt, Phi Rho Pi, julie Lemke, Beazley Hall, Belinda Pfeffer, Zone No. 3, Laura Andress, Baptist Student Union, Kathy Palmer, Schwartz Hall, Diana Lynn Bates, Blinn Power Lifting Club, Susan Horstmann, Circle K. Brenda Ferguson, Zone No. l, Tammy Menke, Phi Theta Kappa, jan Goodwin, Blinn Choir, Cindy Breeden, Katherine 46 Atkinson Dorm, Cindy Albert, Echo Club, Alicia Buchanan, Rodeo Club, Diane DeAnda, Zone No. 2, Tiana Golibart, Tomachefsky Hall, Kathy Goodart, Holleman Hall, Debbie Franke, Blinn Players. Brenda Voelkel, Childhood Instructors Association, Anna Dannelley, Mu Alpha Theta, joanne Corona, Delta Psi Omega, Kim Stoldt, Beta Tau, Vickie Walker, Helman Dorm, Beverly Baker, Hallstein Hall, Barbara Goodman, Phi Beta Lambda, Rhonda Evans, Buccaneer Hall.. Tammy Suiter, Lockett Dorm, Cynthia Randle, Ebony Club, Debbie Rolan, ln- dustrial Arts Club, Carol Derkowski, james Atkinson Hall, Cyndi Briggs, Memorial Dorm, and Vicki Perry, Blinn Band. Circle K sponsored a Dorm-decorating contest again this year for all interested dorms to compete. The award was presented at halftime of the Homecoming game. Circle K president Thrailkill said, ln the past years, the contest has been a one- sided race due to the lack of participation. This year we're hoping that there will be a lot more dorms participating so that it won 't be such a run-away race. Rules for Homecoming Dorm Decora- tions state that: the cost is not to exceed 153500, decorations should be up by ll a. m., Saturday, November 5, decorations must be displayed on the outside of the dorm, with none permanently attached, inside decorations will not be judged, decorations should be up for the entire day, and dormitories must remove decorations no later than noon on November 6. judging took place from l to 2 p. m. on Saturday. Spencer Hall won the dormitory decoration contest. The theme this year was Western since Blinn played the Kilgore Rangers. Buccaneer colors of blue and white were the dominant colors in the decorations. Echo Club honored the Home Econom- ics Exes with an ice cream smorgasbord held on Saturday, from l to 5 on the second floor of the Arts and Sciences Building. The Echo Club sent out invitations t ex-members. There were about 100 partic pants. Mrs, Dolores Howell, Echo sponsor, sal lt's a great deal of fun to see everyone an to have a good time visiting with the ex's. Ugly Man contest was underway t determine the Ugliest Man on Campus, a award was presented at halftime of th Homecoming game. All the campus clubs and dorms electe one person to represent them as Ugl Man . Votes were cast starting October 2 at a penny a vote. All money was turned i by November 4 to Office 18 by noon. The-money collected by the winner w divided evenly between Circle K, the sponso of the contest, and whichever club th winner represented. Stephen P. Fussell o San Augustine, representative of Circle was announced winner of the Ugly Man co test before homecoming which was held tw weeks. Blinn College Ex-Students Associatio met beginning at 4 p. m. in Assembly roo l of the Student Center, on Homecomin Day. Between 4 and 5 p. m., the Exes held social hour. at 5 there was a meeting to elec new officers of the association. The Ex-Students Association has thre different types of members: lj Active-an former student of Blinn College, 2 Associate-any person who has not been student at Blinn, and 3j Lifetime-an person interested in Blinn College. All queen nominees were given reception, November 5, at 6 p. m. ii Assembly Room 2 of the Student Cente sponsored by the Student Council. Football players and their families had dinner at 6 p. m. in the snack bar area of th Student Center, sponsored by Studen Affairs. After all the activities and meetin took place, the Blinn-Kilgore game, kicke off at 7:30.

Homecoming Queen 1977 The 1977-1978 Homecoming Queen was Susan Horstmann, a sophomore from Halletsville. She is the daughter of Nlr. and Mrs. Wilbert Horstmann of Halletsville. Susan is a two-year member of Circle K and is currently serving as treasurer of the club, which was her sponsor. She is serving as cheerleader and has lettered one year on the varsity tennis team. Susan is also Vice- President of Helman Hall. After completing her two years at Blinn, she plans to attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, majoring in physical education.
