20 Henderson 36 Blinn Looking back at the 865 yards gained by both Blinn College and Henderson Co., what opened the way for Blinn's 36-20 win over the Cardinals must have been a partic- ular three-yard loss. With 3:12 left in the third quarter, Blinn's Buccaneers had broken a 14-14 dead- lock with a 57-yard touchdown run by fresh- man Quincy Whittington and Allen Davis' extra point kick had stretched it to a 21-14 margin. Kalum Haack kicked off to the four, where Ethan Ogletree pulled it in but let a knee touch the ground. lt was the Cardinal's ball, from the four. After a net gain of one yard in three plays, Henderson Co. punter Larry Lovett dropped back to the end of his end zone to kick. He muffed the snap, let the ball hit the turf, picked it up and ran. But he ran about two yards too far because he just passed the goal line when Bucs Charlie Hodde, joe Smitherman and Norman Kiecke met him at the two. , 'fl' A A W 2 i.'l J-- 1 -Kurt Collins DB San Antonio 220 Instead of the two-point safety, the Bucs one play later cashed in on six points from All-America running back Leroy King.
