Power Lifting Club The Blinn College Powerlifting Club was organized in 1976. The club attends several powerlifting meets throughout the school year. Some of the most popular that Blinn students participated in are the Texas Hill Country Powerlifting Meet, the Texas Teen- age Powerlifting Meet, and the Arlington Powerlifting Meet. Powerlifting competition divides the members into several classifications, depend- ing upon the weight of the participants and their previous lifting records. The winner of each division is based on the total weight of three lifts. The lifts are the bench press, squat, and dead lift. Each entrant tries each lift three times and takes the heaviest successful attempt. The Powerlifting Club works out each day for about two hours. During this time, they concentrate on only one specific lift. The club is open to anyone who is serious about powerlifting.
