Phi Theta Kappa Beta Alpha Wayne McDonald, Cindy Flukinger, Charles Kramer, Tim Lambert, Sharon Grimm, Robert Giles The Phi Theta Kappa, established in 1918 is an honor society. The Beta Alpha Chapter received its Charter in 1931 and since then has served as the group repre- senting high scholastic and academic goals. A bright event during the year was the National Convention in Houston. Phi Theta Kappa Beta Alpha V i I . w E- Cynthia Flukinger Ten Students Were Initiated Ten students were initiated into the Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor fraternity, in a noon ceremony held on September 28 in the Student Center. Success comes only as a result of sacrifice, said Dr. James H. Atkinson, President of the college. The only way you are going to be remembered is your contribution to your fellow man. Dr. Atkinson spoke to the club members and guests. For the initiation ceremony, each of the new members lit their candle from the Candle of Knowledge , and repeated the Phi Theta Kappa pledge. Each one was then given a membership card by Dr. James Atkinson. 66
