Jolly Rogers The Jolly Rogers, a group of gymnasts, are the new mascots of the Buccaneer football team. The five members are sophomores Mark Angel and Bryan Huskey and freshman Homero Correa, Daniel Boone, and Lawson Frazier, Jr. Miss Janis Sneed, P.E. instructor, said, They will be mascots on a trial basis to see if it works. Their purpose will be to create enthusiasm and pep at ball games and pep rallies. Some of them have tumbling backgrounds, but now they are learning more. Angel said, We are sort like amateur stunt men. The girls will flip us. Correa learned gymnastics with a group of boys in his hometown of Tor- reon, Mexico. He said, we learned to do them for parades and festivals. We never took any classes. We just learned alone. He also said that working with the girls was quite a bit different than working with his friends in Torreon. Frazier received some publicity for gymnastics when he was in the seventh grade. He said, lNhen I came to Blinn, l asked Miss Sneed if I could use her equipment. She came up with this idea about the mascot and asked me if l wanted to try out. Cheerleader Donna Seifert said, They are real good. I hope they will be able to promote more spirit.
