Blinn Buccaneers Defeat The Blinn Buccaneers of Brenham, Texas utilizing a powerful Wishbone offense the count at 7-7 late in the initial period after recovering a Blinn fumble on the Buccaneers 42 yard stripe. The touchdown came on a 17 yard aerial strike to Don Triebwasser from quarterback PaulWalczak, and Pat Haley kicked the PAT. David Henson from Gilmore, and the PA by Bockhorn missed the mark, But, the Norsemen, were not out of 1 h ball game as they roared back with straight touchdowns. Late in the t quarter, Mesabi's great running back C and a deadly passing combination of Steve Gilmore to David Henson carried the Texans to a 38 to 21 victory over Mesabi State of Virginia, Minnesota in the Seventh Annual Wool Bowl game Thursday. Quarterback Gilmore, working out of the crushing Wishbone offense generaled his squad to an impressive 399 yards total offense as Blinn dominated the statistics. The number three nationally ranked Buccaneers scored first on a 55 yard drive in six plays after receiving a Mesabi punt. The TD came on a one yard plunge by halfback Ronnie Melancon, and Donnie Bockhorn booted home the extra point. But, the Norsemen of Mesabi knotted Powerful Blinn took the lead to stay in the second quarter on a 35 yard field goal by Bockhorn. They added seven more points as Melancon tallied his second touchdown of the contest on a two yard run, after a 33 yard drive in seven plays. Bockhorn kicked the extra point. The touchdown was set up on a pass interception by Donnie Reddic, a linebacker, who was selected the game's defensive player. The score at halftime stood Blinn 17, Mesabi 7. 3 Southwest Texas 27 Blinn The Blinn Bucs won their first game of the season by stomping the Southwest Texas JV's 27-3. ln the second quarter, after a Bobcat field goal, the Buccaneers launched a scoring drive that saw fine runs by Ondra Howard and Ronnie lVleIancon. The third quarter, the Bucs scored once more when Beaird scampered 31 yards for a touchdown. ln the fourth quarter, the Bucs came back with a 40 yard pass that 'A .. was intercepted by Floyd Hogan.
