These students become the professional women and men of the business world. The department provides two years of required college work in business for students Who plan to transfer into business administration works in an institution of higher learning and to prepare students for employment in business offices. The department prepares the terminal student Who plans to undertake immediate employment after he has attended one year or two years. Under the care and guidance of business instructors, students learn office conduct, secretarial efficiency, and office management, as well as the essential courses- typewriting, shorthand, accounting. Practical application of these skills will inevitably become the principal require- ment of the students vocational life. Martha Holcomb

English English Program Offers Enrichment 1M, ,,.,,,; The English Department is concerned With helping the students to achieve a degree of pro- ficiency in the process of thinking and in ex- pressing the end product of thought in an effective and acceptable manner of either oral or written communication. To this end the student is encouraged to build a workable and flexible vocabulary. The depart- ment attempts to aid the students in developing a pleasing style of writing. Through courses in literature the department supplies facts essential to the intelligent reading of selections in literature, points out the character- istics Which render each author significant in the development of literature, acquaints the student with masterpieces, and sets the student to work for himself by supplying fundamental facts related to the moral, social, political, and intellectual development. The department hopes the student willdis- cover in great literature a guide for his own think- ing concerning the universal question about the universe, God, immortality, and the relation of man to man.
