It was a real cliff-hanger, but Wharton won 27 to 25. Richard Garza put on a fantastic display of running ability to lead the Bucs in aground game that amounted to 425 yards which was equal to twice that of Wharton. The Pioneers managed to build up a 20 to 7 lead before half time. When the Buccaneers came back after the half, they played like champions. In the dressing room of the gymnasium reads a sign iiwinners never quit, quitters never win? Perhaps this would be an appropriate epitaph for the 1966-67 basketball season. The Bucs were winners all the way. Despite a year that began with a seven game losing streak, they never quit. Number eight was a charm. The Bucs beat Concordia with a sixteen point mar- gin and went on to win nine of their next fifteen games. The climax of the season came after the Bucs returned from their vacation. They traveled to Houston for the San Jacinto Tournament and came home with the consolation crown and a new trophy for Blinnis collection. Throughout the season Harvey Zinn and Coy Ford turned in outstanding performances.
