Evelyn again served on Memories’ Staff. We were active in athletics again. Five boys were out for football and Jack, Wesley, Howard and Richard earned letters. Jack and Wesley received letters in basketball. John, Don and Anton also played. Richard earned a track letter. Cyrelda, Lyn and Jo Ann were GAA officers and Jackie, Judy, Pat and Betty were cheerleaders. Eight members were still in band and twelve made the chorus. Our first money-making” scheme that year was the sale of Curtis magazines. This amounted to $1417.45 and gave us a profit of $474.57. Jack and Lyn served as captains and Theresa as sales manager. Betty Jo and Anton were the two highest salesmen. Lyn escorted by Dominic Ingrando was a member of the Rotary Queen’s court and upheld our standard by placing second. On December 22 we gave the Christmas dance. In February we crowned R. M. Vernetti the Sweetheart of Benld High at the Valentine Dance. Our own candidates were Betty Jo escorted by John S. and Theresa escorted by Jim Basso. We received our class rings in March. In May we gave the Junior-Senior Banquet. Our theme, a French one, won the approval of the students and teachers. The next week we helped the Commercial Club with their carnival. Our last class function of the year was a class picnic at Hillsboro Lake. During the summer Eugene, Dominic and Wesley attended conservation camp, Betty Jo, Girls’ State and Jackie the Cheerleading School. And now as worldly seniors, we face this, our last year, with a mixture of anticipation and excitement. The year’s activities will be recorded throughout the rest of the book.

State Bowling team and with Evelyn, Shirley, Lyn and Jo Ann won the yearly trophy. Ten were still in band and several entered speech contests. Carole was our candidate for Rotary Queen and placed second. Patsy escorted by Anton and Kathleen escorted by Howard were members of the Valentine Queen's court. Our big activity of the year was our class play, No More Homework. The play, by the combined efforts of all the sophomores, Mr. Makuh, our director, and Mr. Marcacci, our sponsor, was a success. The next week, too, was an important one for some of our members, because they either served or entertained at the Junior-Senior Banquet. We closed our Sophomore year with a going-away party for J. Bellovich and Delores D. at the Staunton Country Club and with a swimming party at Hillsboro. That summer Shirley, Cyrelda and Amanda went to GAA camp, and Richard E. went to Boys’ State. We started our Junior year with four members less - Jim B., Delores, Ted and Amanda. Alice L. left later on in the year. Amanda and Richard helped with the initiation program. At our first meeting Howard was elected President, John S., Vice President, and Jo Ann, Secretary-Treasurer. Cyrelda took Amanda's place and Bill Don’s on the Student Council.
