Our Coronations For two years in succession our class has sponsored the Coronation of the Valentine Queen. Our 1955 Sweetheart was Miss Rosemarie Vemetti escorted by Daryl Butcher, and our 1956 Queen was Jo Ann Senak who was escorted by Howard Curtis and crowned by Richard Econie. Her court included the crown bearer Karen Tiburzi and Jimmy Slapak, and the following girls and their escorts: Evelyn Bravin and Don Obertino, Elaine Spudich and Bart Bertolino, Carol Enrico and Jack Marcacci, Verna Fritz and Eddie Beluin, Gloria Culver and John Gay, Mary Lou Cavallo and John Granger and Sandra Libbra and James Sabat. More pictures of Jo Ann's court appear in the Activities Section on pages 64 and 65.

LARRY CASCIO MRS. TOIGO (ANNUAL S. ) MR. MARCACCI (CLASS S. ) In Appreciation We, the members of the Senior Class, thank you, Mr. Marcacci, for your sponsorship. You have faithfully helped us in all of our projects. Without complaining you have guided us through thick and thin, often leaving your own work to do so. A class could never ask for a more patient and understanding sponsor, and now we realize how lucky we have been to have had you as such. A note of appreciation is not all that you deserve, but call it gratitude, appreciation or something else, we want you to know that it comes from the bottom of our hearts. We also thank the men and women of Benld and the surrounding areas for their support of our class projects. They have cooperated willingly and we are sincerely grateful. We expecially thank Mr. Albert Bertagnolli for his help in making our Junior-Senior Banquet a success. We are also grateful to the '53-'54, and '55 Memories Editors and their staffs for pre- serving for us some pleasant memories of our first three years in high school. Senior History September 3, 1952, was our big day. Feeling somewhat foolish, we thirty-two Freshies marched up to the stage in our glad rags and received our beanies and diplomas. Before the effect of this initiation had worn off, the girls were ini- tiated into the GAA and again were required to wear outlandish costumes. Under the guidance of Mrs. De- nutte we held our first class meet- ing and elected Jack as President, Anton as Vice President, Shirley as Secretary-Treasurer, and Amanda and Billy to the Student Council. Evelyn represented our class on the Memories staff. We were very proud of our boys who did well in sports. Including the student manager, fifteen boys went out for football and ten for basketball. Jack, Wesley, and Howard received letters in football, Jack in basketball, and Ted in track. The girls did well in bowling, and Jackie, Amanda, Patsy, and Judy were junior cheerleaders. Jackie was our candidate for Rotary Queen and placed second. Jo Ann escorted by Anton and Amanda escorted by Jim Basso were members of the Valentine Queen's court. The girls entertained the assembly and the PTA with a one act play entitled Murderer at Large. Thirteen of our members played in the band, and several entered speech contests and participated in the Minstrel show sponsored by the chorus. We closed our Freshman year with a picnic at the Staunton Country Club. In September we returned to Benld's institution of higher education with a new member, Delores Dunwick. Our first class meeting was under the guidance of Mr. Henry Marcacci who has remained our sponsor. We chose Ted for our President, Anton, Vice President, and Betty Jo, Secretary-Treasurer. Don A. took Billy's place on the Student Council and served as a member of the newly formed Student Court. Shirley was our member on the Annual Staff. Again we were proud of our boys who did well in athletics. Five players and one manager went out for football, and Jack, Wesley, Howard, and Richard received letters. Jack again made the first basketball team and received his letter. Richard received a track letter. Betty Jo joined Jackie, Judy, Pat, and Amanda as varsity cheerleaders.
