Jack turned the Presidency over to Frank, but took the job of Vice President. Georgette remained our Secretary-Treasurer. (16) Marie and Chuck were elected to the Student Council. (17) Shelby was chosen as Junior member of the Annual Staff and Jeanette as art editor of the Carrier. Shirley remained a majorette in the band. Again our boys were out for football and a number made the first basketball team. (18) Mary Lou became a Jr. cheerleader. Near the end of September we began our magazine sales for the Curtis Publishing Co. and set a record for magazine sales with a total of $1475. 90. High Salesman was Georgette with $248. 05. She received a 3-way radio. Mary Lou K. was second with $187. 30 and Marie K. was third with $163. 50. They both received a 17-jewel Clinton wristwatch. Everyone in the class displayed fine salesmanship and effort in making this campaign a success. (19) On Dec. 26, our class displayed their acting ability by giving the well known play, Annie Get Your Gun. (Pages 23-24) Everyone agreed it was a wonderful suc- cess and well done for a play of its caliber. Georgette escorted by Charles and Shelby escorted by John F. were members of the Valentine Queen's court. (20) Marie K. placed first in the County and District and second in the Sectional American Legion Speech Contest. Jack and Jimmy Y. were chosen as delegates to Boys' State in Springfield, and Georgette and Marie K. to Girls' State in Jacksonville. (21) Chuck was honored by being chosen to go to Washington, D. C. with the Commercial Club as a Jr. delegate. (22) Several Juniors helped the club with the carnival. (23) On May 9, we gave the annual Junior-Senior banquet. (24) The theme was Under Western Skies. The servers were dressed as cowboys and cowgirls. Thanks to the help of the servers, students, and their mothers the banquet was very successful. (Pages 25-32) Many of us took part in the Minstrel Show in May. It was the first time in a num- ber of years that a show of that kind had been put on, and it was really a big success. (Pages 58-59) In the latter part of May we sent for our class rings, which was our first real Senior activity. As before our Junior year was climaxed with a picnic at Hillsboro Lake. (Pages 21 and 25) After a brief vacation we returned to school as Seniors. All we could think about was that this would be our last year at B. H. S. We have lost a number of students along the road. Mary Lou Fox became the wife of Arthur Stinebeiser and Marjorie White the wife of Alvin Hamman. Joseph Seketa, Ronald Luedloff, and Joseph Carpani have joined forces with Uncle Sam. Jack Lehman, Rolfe Giller, Donald Lolie and Ella Mae Langley are employed at various places. Alex Young is now a member of a neighboring high school. We regained a teacher when Mr. Marcacci returned from Arizona. At our first class meeting we elected Frank, Chuck, and Georgette as our class officers, Jack and Shelby for the Senior Committee, Marie K. and Wilbert for the Student Council. We are also serving in many other offices. Georgette is President of the GAA and Shelby is the Vice President. Marie K. is President of the Student Coun- cil. Shelby is editor of the Annual and Marie and Georgette are co-editors of the Carrier. A number of our boys are again active in sports.
