CLASS HISTORY On the first day of September, 1944, a jolly band of freshmen started their High School Career. Most everyone was glad because they had longed for high school get-togethers, football games, par- ties, and especially dates. We really thought we were grown-up until the first initiation and then we realized we weren't so smart after all. During the freshmen year Mrs. Frank Switzer was our swell sponsor. We had several parties and enjoyed all the basket- ball games and football games that year. That year the freshmen class put up a valient race for carnival queen against the seniors who had previously won. Wanda Brewster was candidate and Don- ald Eddings was the Duke. That year our freshmen pep leader was Wanda Brewster. In our Sophomore year Mrs. Bertha Cawyer, anew teacher, was 0'-11' 5P0n501'- All the class had a nice time that year going places in Mrs. Cawyer's Fleet Line . That year our class saw Greer Garson and Clark Gable in Adventure . What a show. We had twob swell chaparones too. Patsy Levisay and Marshall Crouch were our candidates for the Carnival queen this year. Pearl Ogle and Maurice Priddy were nominated class favorites. Pearl Ogle was our pep leader. Our Junior Year we started off with a bang. Everyone was thinking of the Junior-Senior Banquet, which we had in May, Foot- ball games, basketball tournaments and our Junior play. Miss Nad- ine McCowan was our sponsor. We had many great times that year. I remember on one occassion we went to a football game in Stephen- ville, and then we went on several picnics and Weiner roasts too. Our class play that year was He was a Gay Senorita , Starring James Boyd as the Senorita Costa. It was a great success. Then we gave the Junior-Senior Banquet. We carried out a Spanish theme and although the food was hot everyone seemed to enjoy it. This year Sue Moore came to our school from Early High. That gave us thirteen students in our class. Our rings came in this year, and when we received them, you would have thoughtus a mil- lionaire because we were so happy. They were very pretty. Oh yes. This year a marriage took place. Pearl Ogle and Jimmie Haddon said I do , It surprised everyone. They finished school that year anyway. We were very proud of our football team this year when they won district. Patsy Levisay was our Pep leader from our class that year. 'Last, but not least, comes our Senior year. Mr. L. M. Hays was our sponsor. We started off the season by going on a swim- ming party at Lake Brownwood. We won the Carnival Queen race

with a overwhelming majority. Bobbie Mackey and Donald Eddings were King and Queen. The senior class was well represented on the football team this year, with Marshall Crouch being chosen captain. Maurice Priddy, Donald Eddings, and Jimmie Haddon were outstanding players. Pearl Haddon was pep leader from our class this year, and Wanda Brewster was drummer. We lost a senior girl this year. Sue Moore decided to become a wife, so she married Doyle Ogle, and left dear old B. H. S. Wanda Oldham came to our class this year, and we'll say that she is really a swell girl. One night this year our class was to have aclass social and, go to the show at Brownwood, and it all came out with just the girls going. We wonder why, could itbe that all the girls are going steady with other boys outside of our class. Yes, that mustbe it. But the boys seem to be doing pretty goodwith the other classes. Especial- ly Marshall. And Jimmie doesn't have to worry about Pearl. This year Pearl Haddon was elected High Sc-hool Favorite, and Donald Eddings was elected mostathletic boy. Wanda Brewster was elect- ed Best All Around Girl, and Marshall Crouch was Best AllAround Boy. Some of us plan to work, while others plan to go to college. But whatever goal we may choose we feel sure we are well prepared to fill that plan. May we always remember our school days at B. H. S., and may B. H. S. remember the seniors of 1947-48. Wanda Brewster and Marshall Crouch
