The con- testants in the annual Bland County beauty pageants. On March 21 and 22 eighty-two young ladies vied for the top honors in three different categories. Patty Chewning served as mistress of ceremonies. Entertainment consisted of a dancing duo — Mary Pruett and Patty Hylton; vocal selections by Wendi Price, Ila Conley, Fred Simpkins, David Tibbs, Debbie Burton; instrumentals by Rhonda Etter and Lori Gib- son; and a routine by the Rocky Gap Cheerleaders. SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH Amidst flashing lights and disco sounds, the Junior-Senior Prom got un- derway on May 10, 1980 at the Wytheville Recreational Center. All the secrets of many months planning un- folded. The room overflowed with fluffy clouds, angel hair and glittering streamers everywhere. The theme, ‘Sometimes When We Touch” came to life in our make believe world of fantasy and delight. Mr. Jim Wolford provided the music, setting the mood for the evening until our dream world ended and the Prom 1980 became history. Randy Strock entranced by Prom magic.
