pantomimes, songs, and drills on November 17, 1978, under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Kegley. Queen Geneva Clark, King Larry Newberry, Princess Julie Pauley, and Prince Scott Belcher reigned over the festivities. Principal Roger Thompson was host of a ten year custom at Bland Combined School which, until 1978, had lain dormant since 1971. The funds received from the festival were to provide for needed supplies and equipment for BCS. SV v. i Mrs. Carney's active phys. ed.? Did she really streak? Right where you belong? Big Billy? But it is perhaps the end of the beginning. As I look back on the past few months, I can't forget about all those deadlines, endless hours of planning, lost cameras, and looking at hundreds of different pictures!! Where does it all end? Well, this—the last page of “our creation”—brings joy and sadness. The years we have spent at Bland are something no one can take away and probably will be cherished always in years to come. As kin- dergarten students on up to seniors, we have grown in spirit and in mind. Long lasting friendships, new students, goofing off, the Harvest Festival, basketball games, club activities, selling everything for the senior trip ... I hope that just a few of these memories will be pressed between the pages of this,THE 1979 ECHO. Many thanks for this yearbook go to you—the faculty, personnel, and most of all, the students. Special thanks go to the people who worked on this book: the staff, and advisor Betsy Newberry, whose patience and understanding guided us through this year. Time has passed, and yes we will never pass this way again.
