The combination of the students, faculty, and the administration have led Blanchard High to the summit of academics and athletics. The determination and pride inserted into each activity during the year provided BHS with an outstanding perspective of accomplishments which we achieved. Many hours of dedication set the course for us to excel in all aspects of high school life. Whether in the halls preparing for game day, on the field practicing for homecoming, or in the classroom studying for an exam, they summed up to make this one of the best years Blanchard High School has ever experienced. During that time the educational program has made great strides: North Central Accreditation, a computer program, increased emphasis on academics, the implementation of gifted education, the addition of a full-time elementary music program, and a new K-12 library center. I have enjoyed watching the progress we have made toward beautifying the campus with new and remodeled buildings, additional landscaping and sidewalks. I wish to thank the students and faculty for their courtesy and friendliness and the Board of Education for their support. I know the Blanchard schools will continue to progress because of the Strong community support for a quality educational program. I will always look back on my eight years in Blanchard with fond memories. School Board BR: (L to R) Gary Horton, Dr. Gary Green. FR: (L to R) Henry Cool Teddy Pickard, Dick Jones. The way the seniors see it, the final countdown includes three steps. First is the prom, a time for the juniors and seniors to gather as one in their finest dresses and tuxes to say good-byes, good-lucks, and it's been fun. The juniors put on an extremely good prom for the seniors this year, and we thank them for all of their efforts to making our first step the best it could be. Since it's just the first step, it's not as emotional, just a lot of fun! And we did have fun! The second step is the baccalaureate. Our baccalaureate was held May 17, at 2:00 p.m. All of the seniors were in nice white dresses and handsome suits ready to complete the second step. As we waited on the ramp to make our big entrance, most were running around making last-minute final touches. Pomp and Circumstance began to play and all of the seniors hurried to their spots and we began our march. The sermon was given by Reverend Ray Simms, and as we all listened we began to realize that it was actually almost over. As the band began to play again, we stood up and left. Outside we congratulated each other on completing our second step and gathered for pictures. This brings us to the third and most important step, graduation! Graduation is perhaps the most emotional and celebrational step of all. It means the closing and opening of a section of our life. This year's graduation commencement ws held May 22 at 8:00 p.m. Because of the rain it had to be moved into the gym. But despite the stuffiness, the excitement was still in the air. After we had all accepted our diplomas and made our exit, some seniors cried and some screamed out with joy. After all of the hugs, congratulations, and pictures everyone went home and met later on at the senior party. The way the seniors saw it, nothing can ever be as exciting, emotional, and scary all in one as these final three stages. As the stages went by, one by one, we began to realize just how special our years here at Blanchard have been. And all the good times and the bad will be remembered forever along with many memories of the friends that can never be replaced. Center — Last minute adjustments. Debrah. Robyn, and Tina.
