The 1982 edition of the BHS Lions baseball team was loaded with senior talent, but was plagued with injuries. Ace pitcher Derryl Sellers was sidelined with arm trouble the entire year and saw only limited action on the mound. Pepper Pitmon, outfielder, was out for a time with a bad knee, and sophomore pitcher Kevin lames was out all but the last two weeks of the season with mono. Even though the pitching corps was diminished, the team hitting and defense carried the Lions to a 23-9 season, ending one $ame away from the coveted state tournament tnp to Tulsa. The Lions scored impressive wins over highly touted Norman, Putnam City, Tuttle, McGuinness, Newcastle, El Reno, and Ardmore. Their demise came at the hands of Marlow in the finals of the regionals. The Lions will lose eight seniors who will be hard to replace next year to carry on the tradition of winning Lion baseball. Kristi has been an annual staff member three years and is a co-editor this year.
