Mrs. Stokes received her BS and MS from East Central State College of Ada. She has done advanced work on her doctorate at the University of Oklahoma. She belongs to the local ACT OEA, OEA, NEA, Oklahoma Association of Business Teachers, National Association of Business Teachers, Oklahoma Guidance Counselors Association, and National Guidance Counselors Association. She is past president of the local ACT, is now a building representative for ACT, and has been selected as Blanchard's Teacher of the Year. All of Mrs. Stokes' activities, however, don't begin to indicate the interest she has in Blanchard students. Even though she is only a part-time counselor, she spends long hours and much of her own time helping students. She has helped countless students obtain scholarships, loans, and jobs. Even after graduation, students still seek advice and help from Mrs. Stokes. It is very fitting that we dedicate our year's work to someone who works so hard for the students. 3 Dedication We appreciate our cafeteria ladies--Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Shipman, Mrs, Freeman, Mrs. Blackburn, Mrs. Clayton, Mrs. Pearcy, and Mrs. Wigley. Transportation is a very necessary part of every school, and we are very lucky to have such capable bus drivers--BOTTOM ROW--Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Walls, Mrs. Furbee, Mrs. Brooks. TOP ROW—Mr. Swaim, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Short, and Mr. Pearcy. These four men do a much-needed and often thankless job of keeping our school and facilities clean. We do appreciate the the work that often goes unnoticed--Mr. Williams, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Pearcy, and Mr. Swaim. 4 Necessary People Faculty 75 School Board School Board Members - Eddie Wilson, Cary Dennis, John Sill, James Chambers, Joe Holmes. 6 Jen-e R. Treasurer-Kim Francis, Vice-President-Mark Starr The Senior Class of 1975 faced their final year with excitement and expectation—excitement over finishing their last year of school and high hopes for their future. Their senior year was filled with activities peculiar to only seniors--pictures, announcements, and graduation. As the time came nearer for friends to part, some seniors felt a twinge of nostalgia as they marched to Pomp and Circumstance. This senior year had seemed to be the best of all and now it was all coming to an end. Who could ever forget that first gTade trip to Wedgewood and seeing the embalmed lady at the planetarium? Was it our class who was initiated in junior high by being iagged over the sticker patches? And it couldn't have been our boys who used to rob the candy machines in the old junior high building!! And how many countless bottles of Rex did we really sell? It's almost impossible to believe that some of these faces will not be seen again in the halls of BHS. This years Junior class was one of the finest ever. They sold tumblers to make money for their senior trip, which they hope they will get to take. They should be complimented for patiently waiting for their rings, which were almost a month late. Most had a good time as they prepared for their senior year. The highlight of the year was the Jr-Sr-Banquet which was a hawaiian luau. Juniors finally received class rings. 18 Aldridge, Bowen, Anderson, Paul Jerry Busby, Chapman, Chapman, Karen Randy Rocky Cooley, Cowan, Daily, Shelly Debbie Teresa Erwin, Fletcher, Fletcher, Rodney Gerri Richard Harvey, Halliburton, Holder, Mona Barbara Sharon Brighwell, Brooks, Brown, Jeff Terry Tommy Clark, Cockrell, Cooley, Sheryl Kim Ricky Darnell, Darnell, Davis, Joe Valerie Don Goyne, Hale, Haley, Sherry Brenda Alida Houck, Ingrum, Jackson, Phil Sharon Pat 19 Kimbrell, Marty Knox, Kathy Misenheimer, Moore. NOT PICTURED: Gary Henager - Sec. The Sophomores have had a great year in all areas. They participated in football, basketball, baseball, music, band, FHA, FTA, and all other activities. Highlights of the year that they remember most vividly were decorating their homecoming car with an antbed although they didn't win a prize, almost beating Tuttle for the District Championship, Being runners-up in the conference tournament, and their candidate Mark Waggoner for the ugly man on campus contest. Another happy moment for most of them was turning sixteen and receiving their drivers license. They feel they have made many contributions to the school and will continue to make more the next two years. The Sophomore class rejoices in the fact that there is a better year coming! They also defeated their arch-rivals, Newcastle, two out of three games. 73 Neal Bridwell, Raymond Crimes, Brad Muncie Seniors Girls Sr. High L-R TOP ROW: Coach Wilson, R. Fenter, L. Wilson, F. VILLAGE INC.-POD FRANCIS Blanchard misses a lay-up, but is only four points behind. Basketball Seniors The Blanchard Sr. High girls had a rewarding year even though their record was not indicative of their accomplishments. The Lionettes were young, having only three seniors and sometimes starting five sophomores. Playing nine games against rated opponents the inexperience often showed, but the young Lions displayed a great deal of hustle and desire. Although injuries and illness struck at inopportune times the girls were runners-up in the conference tournament, were conference co-champs, and were defeated in the semi finals of the regionals. They will have several returning letterwomen around which to build their team for the 75-76 season. Juniors Q a t Sophomores 75 Boy's Jr. High Basketball—Conference Champs 1ST ROW-K. Ferguson, D. Joe had a good season at the plate and on the mound. His pitching record was 5-4, losing two close games to Newcastle. The Blanchard Lion baseball team this year posted a record of 18-7. This year's team was young as it started four sophomores, all at the infield position. The Lions were led by senior pitcher, Neal Bridwell; senior catcher Ronnie Cottrell; and senior outfielders Tony Matheson and Eddie Sherrill. Blanchard was the conference for the fourth year in a row, and finished second to Newcastle in the conference tourney, 3-2. They were defeated in the play-offs by Elgin. Nine players were named to the all-conference team— honorable mention players, Kent Clardy, Ronnie Cottrell, Tony Richey, and Tony Matheson first team players, Rusty Fleck, David Brooks, Randy Hughes, Neal Bridwell, and Joe Darnell. Coach Sonny Vermillion was selected as coach of the year. Neal Bridwell was chosen as the first ALL-STATER in baseball that Blanchard has ever had.
