We as the Junior class of 1970 are proud to have triumphed over the everyday problems of high school life. As we ended this year we reached the peak of our lives—our Senior year. We had to keep up with the Seniors of 1970, and we did by electing Maurice Massey as our President. Maurice was an equal match for last year's Junior class President. Then we selected Billye Cheatham, Debbie Shatwell, and Leanne Myers to help Maurice take care of our class’ business matters. This year the Juniors were well represented in all activities. Our class was involved in everything from sports and music to home economics and agriculture. The Juniors on the football team were Richard Agee, Eddie Binyon, Tommy Daniels, Geary Caldwell. Roy Harris. Maurice Massey. Darryl Mitchell, Lonnie Ray, Bruce Pierce, Dee Lewis, and Eugene Pickens. The Junior girl chosen as football attendant was Teresa Haygood. Our other royalty included Brenda Gray who was FFA Sweetheart. Eugene Pickens, our only boy royalty, was FHA Beau. The Pep Club was amply blessed with Junior girls. The girls in Pep Club included three cheerleaders—Rebecca Freeman, Teresa Haygood, and Sandra Montgomery. Other Pep Club members were Gail Brown, Billye Cheatham, Tressa Whinery, Leanne Myers, Brenda Gray, Beth Lauen, Mary Nell Dickenson, Lisa Jones Bonny. Our basketball players on the girls’ team include Gail Brown, Billye Cheatham, Tressa Whiner Rebecca Freeman and Teresa Haygood. Teres Haygood received All-Conference Honorable Mer tion. Our boys' team had a good season and a pa: of that was because of our Junior boys who pa: ticipated on the team: they included Richard Agee Maurice Massey. Eugene Pickens and Bruce Pierce The Juniors also participated in Music. The boy and girls from our class who were in small group were Linda Langford, Teresa Haygood. Billye Chea; ham, Sandra Montgomery, Rebecca Freeman, Bret da Sullivan, Richard Agee. Eddie Binyon, Bruc Pierce and Raymond Swinney. Not only were the Juniors of 1970 active in sport and school activities, but they also achieved a grer deal of recognition in scholastic work. Belt; Mitchusson received the American History Awar and the Physics Award: Leanne Myers receive: the Shorthand Award: Eddie Binyon received tfe Solid Geometry and Trigonometry Award: G Prigmore received the Typing II Award. Eddn Binyon and Rebecca Freeman were the represents tives to Boys' State and Girls’ State this year. The Junior class would like to thank Mrs. Riche and Mr. Northington for helping us through thes past five years and for their guidance and supper when we needed it most. 18
