CJ? The Seniors of 1970 have had a good year. This year is the one that finishes what we began in 1957. In 1957, there were forty-four first graders here at Blanchard; thirty-seven seniors were handed diplomas on May 15—twelve years later. We began our last year by electing Terry Brid-well as our class President. Fellow officers were Danny McGray (Vice-President). Rhonda Brooks (Secretary). Kathy Bailey Koonce (Treasurer), and J. R. Staton (Reporter). During this school year we have been active in all areas of our school's life. The first area of participation this year involved football and pep club. Our football team was helped tremendously by our senior boys: Allen McDonald, Ray Queen, Terry Bridwell, Tommy Bergman, Jerry Neal, Tim Boyer, Rick Remington, and Jeff Wilson. Of these, Ray Queen, Terry Bridwell, Jerry Neal, and Rick Remington made All-Conference. We had ten Senior girls in Pep Club this year. Especially involved in this activity was Londa Pierson who was a Cheerleader and Rhonda Brooks, Pep Club President. Both FHA and FFA were headed by Seniors. FHA President was Betty Wilson and FFA President was Terry Bridwell. Seniors who received special recognition in these areas were Jerry Neal who was one of Oklahoma's State Farmers and Sherry McConnell who received the Betty Crocker Award. After football season, we were active in both boys’ and girls' basketball. Our boys’ team this year was very successful—primarily because of our Senior boys. These boys were Tommy Bergman, Tim Boyer, Terry Bridwell, Jerry Neal. Tommy Bergman received distinction by being selected All-Conference, Alternate All-Star, and was tenth in scoring in the state. Seniors on the girls team were Genelle Adams, Rhonda Brooks, and Cindy Francis. Cindy Francis was selected to the Alternate All-Conference team. We were also active in Music. We had 21 Seniors participating in Music. Our class is also well-known for its addition of royalty to the class body. We had Betty Wilson OFFICERS (I to r) Rhonda Brooks. Sec.; Terry Bridwell. Pres.: Danny McGraw. V-Pres.; J. R. Staton. Reporter; Kathy Bailey Koonce, Treas. who was Football Queen, Rick Remington who was Pep Club Beau. Charles Clark who was FHA Beau Candidate, and both Mr. and Miss Music were from the Senior class. Mr. Music was Tim Boyer and Miss Music was Rhonda Brooks. This year's Awards Assembly belonged to the Seniors because we were represented in every phase. Kathy Koonce was the Valedictorian and Betty Wilson was Salutatorian of our class. All-Around Boy and Girl were Tommy Bergman and Cindy Francis. Other awards were: English Award. Bookkeeping Award, Senior High Social Studies Award, and Scholarship Award, Kathy Bailey Koonce; Typing 1 Award, Annual Award, and Music Award. Cindy Francis; Library Award, Kozetta Greenmyer; Home Ec. Award and Betty Crocker Award, Sherry McConnell; Annual Award, Eddie Kimbrell; Drafting Award, Londa Pierson; Agriculture Award. Jerry Neal; Danford Award, Betty Wilson; Girls' Basketball Award. Genelle Adams; Boys' Basketball Award, Tommy Bergman; Football Award. Terry Bridwell; and Baseball Award. Rick Remington. One of the special highlights of our year was our Senior trip. As usual, we exhibited “togetherness and had a wonderful three days. We would like to thank Mrs. Hendrix and Mr. Homan (who are both also leaving) for helping us this year and for helping to make our last year wonderful. 12
